Just got a ticket. Have some questions.

Half an hour ago I got my first ticket. 117km/h in an 80km/h zone. Now for the questions. The cop pulled two of us over at the same time. I was following a late 90's model dakota in the passing lanes. I saw the cop and hit my brakes immediately. Anyway he caught up to me a little up the road and I pulled over. He gave me the ticket and when I asked how he got a radar lock on my car he said the radar has a tracking ability???? The dakota is a higher vehicle and he was going faster than me. I was under the impression that radar locks on to the fastest moving vehicle.(told to me by another cop) I am going to fight the ticket but I wondering if any of you know anything about how their radar works. Any help would be immensely appreciated. I am not paying a $300.00 fine.

Well, to my knowlege, which is very limited in that area, if he's sitting with the gun on, he'll catch the first person who crosses the path of the gun. Or, if he's using lazer, then he can just point at your car with the gun and get a reading, or even conventional guns. I"m no expert though, just taking wild guesses.

I don't think he was using laser radar, as he was coming towards me in the oncoming traffic. I'm pissed because there is no way he can clock me through another vehicle. I'm going to go to points tomorrow and see what they can do for me.

Is the front bumper on yuyr car the stock one for the 2nd gen 3000gt's?? I've only ever seen 2 Mitsu first gens in person. Must be nice having a car that rare up here.

don't go to points , just set up a trial date your self. The cop is lying to you that it can "track" you. What the fuck is he in a f-16??? It will never hold in court and the judge will bump it down because you where a good driver before. Trust me, I dive a police magnet, I've been through it all.
