Manual Boost Controller for sale:

Allows you to adjust the boost level produced by your turbos with the turn of a knob. Best bang for the buck available for our cars. I dont have a picture of mine, but it is very similar to this one.
Comes with valve and hoses (black)

The first person with $50, will turn thier car into a 15psi monster

Whats shown in the picture is all you need. Takes maybe 2 minutes to install, but you would need an aftermarket boost gauge to know how much you can open it up. If you don't have a boost controller, get one!

Ok like crazykid said – YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO INSTALL AN AFTERMARKET BOOST GAUGE!!!

The gauge is a necessity, don’t install a boost controller (manual or electronic) with out it, it might cost you an engine!

You really think installing the boost guage was a bitch? was it a pod mounted one? i found it pretty easy.
A little trick i figured out when i helped my friend put one on his turbo volvo (dont laugh, it was pretty nice) was to not use the screws to attach the pod, but use crazy glue and just clamp it on. that way there are no holes to drill, and it looks more like it is part of the A-pillar, than when it has the screws sticking into it.

Anyway, its still going for fity bones....Everyone says how great it is, but nobody wants it? :(

Fast Eddie

Ya, i could install it, but i wouldent do it without the boost guage.

You need the boost guage to tell what pressure you are setting the controller to. It is not somethng you can tune with "seat of the pants" measurements.

Id recommend collecting a boost guage and A-pillar mount (havent looked in a while but prob. $70 for guage and $20 for mount) over the winter, and then come spring i could pop in the boost controller at one of the meets, or some other time.

In the meantime, pull the boost restrictor plug (fom my other post that you saw). There is absolutely no danger to the car.

Either EGT (exhaust gas temp) or A/F (air/fuel ratio).

Monopoly

Actually it was your post that made me remember about my boost controller. :)

I dont understand how a manual boost controller is that much? Does it have any special functions, features? they both get you to 15 psi, or however high you want to go, but one is 8 times more expensive? It must do something besides simple boost control. maybe you can adjust it from inside the car? (not sure why you would need to do that though. I 'just set it and forget it'. dont see why you would need to turn it up and down constantly.)

its really up to you. mine may not be as pretty, but the point of these is that it is easy to hide if you are street racing, then nobody can tell you have a boost controller. The same way people try to hide the little nitrous bottles. If you want the 'low-buck brawler' go for mine, if you want a thing that looks nice uner the hood, go for the expensive one.
Its not like im making a kiling on 25 bucks. Its up to you.

how about on monday you come to the thornhill meet and i can take a look at your BOV and maybe go grab some plumbing stuff that we will need at CT or Home depot. then once we have everything all figured, we can put them in anytime. Its just that i really need to see the BOV to determine whether the DSM adaptor will fit.
If you go look at your car, there is a big hose going from the bottomish of your Y-pipe to the factory Bypass valve. does the BOV come with a hose sort of similar to that?

Monopoly
07-16-03, 04:02 PM
no it didnt vome with any hoses, the BOV is just attached to some flange with 2 bolts and a gasket

cant make the meet on Monday i gotta work 10-8-30 mon-thurs!!!:whoa:

what about next friday?

Fast Eddie
07-17-03, 03:53 PM
i am pretty sure you are going to need an adaptor made. you can't bolt it directly to the plastic Y-pipe you need some sort of hose connection.

start a thread asking anyone that has one, how they connected it. (mine is an HKS so its a different setup.)

As for when we can put it in, we are trying to get a wrench day in that other thread, so if that is soon, we can do it there with the help of everyone.

Think 9pm on monday would be late todo this stuff? if not im game.

OK he threw in the metal Hose connector for free!

this is what i got from him
XS RFL BOV
Adaptor that goes into hose connector
gasket for adaptor
2 bolts for adaptor
metal T shaped hose connector.

think it'l fit now??? if its easy todo with hose connector i could probably hook it up myself and then we can connect your Boost cont. sometime next week i work 10-8:30pm mon-thurs though
:( got fri-sun off :)

Its a super simple thing to do if you have the correct install kit. Im sure you could do it in 30 minutes.
No, i dont think 9:00 would be too late to get it done. Maybe leave the boost controller for another day cause you have to install the boost guage, guage pod, and controller all at the same time, and that takes a while.

Something you can do this weekend though is find a plug for the hole that will be left in the bottom of the T shaped part. The part right after the air filter and MAS unit that the stock Bypass valve blows into. its on the bottom. The easiest thing would probably be to take it right off the car (its only connected with hose clamps) and go around your garage test fitting things into it. some people have used the cap from a coke bottle, but i found it too small. i either used a water bottle cap or one off of a tin of varathane or paint thinner. I really dont remember, but its something about that size. see what you can find.

ok cool cool i think i can do that, ill look around and see what i can scrounge up at home.

anyways i didnt buy the gauges the faces had scratches all over them and the dude wouldnt lower his prices. what a dick!!!!

i get the gauge pod in on Monday at that place u told me about but no gauges yet unless they have a boost gauge in stock i could pick up...

i just looked at the adaptor kit for the DSM and the one doesnt look ANYTHING AT ALL like the stealth one..FUCK ill need a whole new adaptor kit for sure.

im selling the DSM adaptor kit for $20 if any1's interested!

Fast Eddie
07-21-03, 09:46 AM
So you are sure you are going to need an adaptor kit? Then theres nothing we can do tonight?
Thats cool.
Are you still going to come by the car show? i dont know how many cars will be left at 9:00, especially on a day like this. But if you still want to go, i can be there.

lol im still at work man! im cannot leave till 10pm!

FUCK i hate this shift!:finger:

its raining anyways isnt it?
i dont think ill need the adaptor if we can connect the hose to the BOV w/o it.
