View Full Version : Throttle problem, or some kind of problem.. HELP!
Ok, i took out my car today, and drove around quite a bit. It's been around three months since i drove the car.
Anyway, i'm drivnig along, coasting second, 2000rpm, i hit the gas to go, and nothing, my boost guage goes up to 0, but my rpms are still going down, engine isn't making any noise in response to my acceleration, and my pedal is to the metal. Only boost guage responded. Then it did it in third gear while i was driving normally. Then it did it in fourth. It did it all the way ti'll i got home. Just randomly. The car would completly stop responding and just coast in gear, with only the boost guage pointing at zero when i hit the gas, and going back down when i let off.
I stayed on the gas, and then it finally caught, and just jerked, like i did a drop clutch on it, but it only at 2k rpm.
Anybody ever had this problem or know what this could be??
That sounds fuk'd, am electronic/elecrtical problem maybe???
sounds really wierd, it can't be the cable cause it is intermident, could it be a malfunctioning MAS? i wonder? I dunno I'm no mechanic or anything and I have never hear d of the probleb before but I'll think about it!!
I don't know what it could be. I was thinking maybe the ECU?? like the engine was not responding the the pedal AT ALL, it would just cut itself off, then all of a sudden, cut back on. When it did cut off, it would just coast, the engine wouldn't jerk or anything, just coast like i'm not even on the gas, yet my boost guage would go up???????? (aftermarket guage). Weird.
if it happens again pull over reset ECU
The ecu was reset not too long ago, when itook the battery out and charged it.
91vr4n00maxima seems to think it's fuel related. Could it be the old gas?? 3 month old quarter tank, a little less even. I'm gona fill it up with 95(we have 95 at the pumps here:D , we use to have 100:( ) and see if that helps.

but if there was a glitch or something the error code or what ever will be there even if you reset it the day before it happened, juss hall off the - terminal for a couple min and see if that changes things!!

Hehehe, that's right, lol. My winter has no snow. I'm in South Carolina right btw. If i was in ottawa, i woudln't have that problem, 'cause the car would be sitting in my garage. It was pretty nice out today, it was about 20 celcius.
I'm thinking something with the fuel system, that's limiting you...
christ you could even have a fuel line clogged. But about the boost gauge, I can't really think of an answer...maybe your sparks are crapped out.
good luck though
The boost guage going 0 was because the throttle plate was opening up creating steady pressure, no vacume, no pressure, just at 0. that was normal.
Check the turbo if they turn freely and also check the injectors.
It’s probably the turbo’s, I had a motorcycle with that problem.

Even if i had failing turbo's, the engine should still go. The engine is the one not responding, not the turbo's. When the engine repsonds, the turbo's go.
It also has a screwy idle at times, enough to make the car stall out when i'm at a light sometimes.
Could it be TPS?? What about injectors??
screwy idle.... have you checked the idle screw? it gets old and has to be adjusted or replaced sometimes.
Shit, sell that car?? I haven't had half the problems with mine as you've had with yours, LOL. Mine are all minor :D .
And i'm thinking it's either TPS or Injectors. I'm gona check both when the rain stops.
I beleive it was dirty injectors, BUT THANKS FOR THE HELP ALL, lol. It's running ALOT better now.

What did you end up doing?
nothing that i did made it run better. I pulled everything off almost, except the plenum. I took out the injectors and everything, they looked fine though. just driving it made it run better.
