Hey everyone,
I'm just wondering if anyone has had to replace their drive shaft yet and if so did you look into any alternate arrangements that allow you to have servicable U-joints. My driveshaft has a bad rear joint (the one attached to the Lobro joint) and everyone around here in Kitchener/Waterloo won't touch it to just cut off the old one and replace it with something else...
Thanks,
Bill
I think i may have a bad u-joint. I checked my carrier bearings, and they're find, so the only thing else it could be is a U-joint. If it's a bad U-joint, you have to replace the entire drive shaft.
If you want I can probebly look in getting new U joints?

Just get an carbon fiber drive shaft and never worry about u-joints or carrier barrings again :)

Y ???
Are the U-joints better a CF drive shat?
If I am not mistaken, a CF drive shaft is 1 peice, meaning no u-joints, except at the ends.
I know that, but you still have 2 U-joints!

I figured that was what you were getting at.
He may have meant that you were removing the extra's
Went through this situation exactly about two years ago. Factory drive shaft is about $1500CAN last time I checked, and they say the U-joints can't be replaced. BUT, I ended up at a place in Michigan that does awesome work doing driveline rebuilding. They DID replace all my U-joints - I think it was around $300. They also sorted out my vibration problem which had been going on for about two years.
The company is Cameron's Cove in Marine City MI. Talk to Mike (tell him I sent you). Phone 810-716-1160 (his son races an 11 second Talon). They're off I94, about 30 minutes from Sarnia/Port Huron.
Also, keep in mind that while CF driveshafts are strong, the u-joints at either end are going to be the weak point.
