I'm most likely going to be attending the national gathering this year in St. Louis. Hell.. its only 1200kms from Toronto, shouldn't take long at all to get there. Anyone else going? Would be fun to have a few other cars going down at the same time.

My wife said yes too. One catch though.... she wants to come too. I'm thinking of maybe just getting there on Thursday afternoon, and coming back Sunday morning. So I'll only have to take two days off work.
The cost for the hotel room is $82 USD a night. Registration is $35 USD, Food is $60 USD each person, and Drag Racing cost is $45 USD. So I figure the whole thing not including gas would be around $600 CDN. Not bad really, if you think of it like a mini-vacation.
I hope we can represent Canada a bit better than last year. I heard only 2 cars came from Canada last year.
Hey I lived in Gatineau for 3 years. Just off Greber kinda behind that awesome strip joint Pigale. :D
I think i'm gona go as well.
We should all caravan there together.

Yes we should all caravan there together. Are you planning on getting there for the Wednesday night or the Thursday night though? Alot of people are skipping the road racing, so I was thinking of getting there Thursday afternoon, might change my mind though and go Wednesday.
Actually, i was hoping to do some road racing, hehe.
But i will go whenever everyone wants to go. If the entire caravan wants to go on thursday, then we'll go on thrusday. I'd much rather go as a group, and represent for canada.

Hey, it was the road racing that really caught my attention. I've been toying with the idea of attending if my job will allow it. My wife told me that she'd definitely be planted in the passenger's seat if I went. So right now it's pencil'd in on the calendar. However the distance from Calgary will make it a week long vacation. Anyone else from the west thinking of heading there?

I'm with you Crazy. If we have a group that wants to leave on a certain day, we'll do that. If it happens to be Wednesday, then I guess I'll be upgrading my brake pads and go road racing too.

Jeez Nick, I thought I had a drive, but mine's only 2625 km. one way. You've got me beat by over 350 km's. But it sure beats meeting in Thunder Bay.....

Hey Ontario guys. If you're coming through Michigan, try and meet up with the MI crew if you want. I can give you all directions because every summer my family goes to Hamilton and Orillia for 3 weeks so I know the best route down through MI/IN and IL. Whoever is going to be incharge of this caravan, email me for more info.

I heard that people are starting to actually book up alot of the hotel rooms. They even ran out of rooms with two beds. I'll be booking my room soon I think.
Just to update you guys coming through Windsor/Detroit... we can meet up with the Michigan guys just outside of Detroit. Then they're meeting up with the Indiana guys. They're trying to get around 40-50 cars coming into St. Louis all at once!

I would like to go and meet at the boarder but ill probably just get anouther full cavity search and sent back to good old Canada. Ok well it wasn't a full cavitry search but last week I had my car searched for drugs and my stereo ripped apart by the stupid american peace "OF SHIT" bridge officers. they are all so stupid, anyways I dont wanna go through that shit again so I probably wont go.

Don't worry about those border guys... going to the gathering is worth it.
The border guys in Detroit are a bit nicer in my experience. I've crossed probably a hundred times, and only was really hassled once going down to Florida for spring break, but only because one of my passengers was caught with a marijuana joint like 10 years before that once. We had to drop him off in a Windsor motel with a 6 pack of beer and bus fare back to Toronto, then had to cross the border without him.

On the NG03 website it goes into detail that even though you are not attending, you can show support of the Gathering by purchasing a booklet with a photo of your car included. So, if you can't make it, plop down $20 U.S and you'll be there in an illustrated kind of way. ;)

I'm assuming the main hotel is fully booked? Where are you staying? I'll be drag racing for sure, on dragstrip and on the streets of St. Louis.
Leaving at 8ish? Wouldn't we be late? The Michigan guys are leaving on Tuesday night at 6PM, going to Elkhart, IN staying overnight, then leaving with the Indiana guys at 10AM.

Last year I left at 8AM, and arrived in Indiana at 2:30ish. It's only another hour and a half from there, from what I'm told.
We could leave at 7.
NOthing gets going that early in any case.

Ok.. sounds fine to me. I'm just waiting to test out how my car feels with the new manual tranny before I commit 100% to going, but it should be fine.

I don't know how fast you guys are driving, but it's a good 3-3.5 hrs. from south side of Chicago to St. Louis doing about 75mph.

Yep, I get these dumb girls in my car that can't tell that they're going 120MPH, meanwhile its in a 80km/hr zone. Gotta love those type.
The good thing about driving on the interstate hwy's is that most of the speed limits are at 75MPH now.. so you're still pretty safe from the feds doing low 80's.

No i didn't yet. I've been kinda sitting on the fence about it seeing as I still don't have my car back yet from the ATX-manual swap (not Marc's fault). I should have my car back this week. I know the deadline is just about here, so I need to make a quick decision. I wish they weren't forcing everyone to signup early. I even told them that I'm not 100% sure about going now, and they told me they can make no exceptions.
At this point I'd say I'm 50/50 about going. :(

I'm REALLY hoping to go. I'm still holding out hope that It'll happen. I can imagine how awesome it'll be. I can't believe more of the guys aren't going.
