I just got a 1994 stealth r/t tt and have a few questions I would muchly appreciate help with. It is pearl yellow with 81,000km. It is in mint shape except for its tires and needs its 'big' maintenance. I had it pre purchase inspected at a Dodge dealership and they wanted to corn-hole me with $1500+gst for the timing belt and waterpump replacement service. My mechanical skills are basic (as in oil and simple fluid changes), and I do not have the skills, tools, time, or balls to try this myself. I do not want to trust this service to Canadian tire or Joes neighborhood shop. Can anyone PLEASE suggest a shop or dealership in preferably Calgary or possibly Red Deer that has A)done this service before B)will not rape me in the process. Approx how much should this 60K mileage service cost? On inspection at Dodge the rear windshield wiper blade was cracked and they wanted $68 to replace it- I crap you not. I know that they are not a charity- but come on!
Question #2 The OEM Goodyear tires are pretty much shot. Can anyone recommend a good tire shop in Calgary or more specifically a good tire for our roads. I have no intention of autoX or racing with them and would trade for a comfortable ride and longevity over grip and handling(within reason). I would like to spend under $1000 installed if possible(less is better). This car will never go out on the snow with these tires, but I don't know if I am better getting a all-season or a summer performance. I tried Costco and they wanted $1700 installed for some Michelins. The guy working there said you absolutely have to have the Z rated tires due to the cars performance and weight. Any truth to this or could I get away with an V or W. Any experiences appreciated. The salesmen at Tiretrends said the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX 245/45/ 17" at $175 shipped would meet my needs. Any opinions would be great.
Question #3 This car was originally purchased at Eastside Dodge and the previous owner had all the paperwork but the original sales contract. Can anyone tell me what the MSRP was for a 94 TT with leather and the CD changer? If anyone has the original window sticker scanned and could E-mail it to me that would be perfect.
Anyways sorry about the longwinded first post. I absolutely love the car so far and would look forward to any of the Alberta Stealth Meets.

woohoo! another calgary owner! welcome!
you still have 20k to go before youre supposed to need your 100k, but i guess you are better safe than sorry. i was quoted quite a bit more than 1500 for my 100k service last summer but i guess i was getting a lot of stuff replaced.

i found the cheapest parts 'locally' were from westside mitsu in edmonton. they didnt have any problem shipping my stuff down here and they ended up being a couple hundred bucks cheaper than platinum and hyatt.

as far as tires ... maybe look into fuzion (or continental?).

Damn, Surreal you're quick!

The fact that you are concerned about who services your car is a very good thing! Hopefully you will want to learn more about it so that you can do a fair amount of work on it yourself. There are not many people that I'd let touch my car! One of the few shops would be Dan Fulford's Import Car Specialists, located near the Marlborough Mall 248-7870. He may not be cheap, but he is good! Eddy is a member here in Calgary that has done some awesome work on his car; basically a ground up restoration. It's the cleanest Stealth that I've ever seen! If you could ever persuade him to do the 60K mile tune-up for you, that would probably be the best of all worlds. Sorry Eddie!!!

Since the car is new to you, you're going to want to replace all the important items, and the parts alone could cost you roughly a grand for the tune-up. If you plan on keeping the car for awhile, don't skimp here. I haven't done mine yet, but that's what I'm allocating for it. Our cars are not cheap to work on, that's why the more you know, the better off you will be.

Never, ever go to Dodge again! Your car is a Mitsubishi, even if it says Dodge on the body! ;) Hyatt Mitsu offers us a 10-15% discount on parts; just mention that you are a Calgary DSM Club member. Dodge will just purchase the parts from Mitsubishi, and charges 50% more for them.

Now for tires, the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX 245/45/ 17" at $175 is a reasonable tire/price. They are a comfortable tire but not a really high performance tire. I'm currently running Falken Ziex ZE-512 that I purchased at Kal-Tire for $250 each. They are good all round tires, but I only get 2 summers out of them before they need replacing. However, I do take my car to Race City and do the lapping days, which uses some rubber. Don't expect 50,000 kms out of any tire for this car. It just ain't gonna happen.
My next set will probably be a set of BFGoodrich g-Force KDW2's, but I plan on purchasing them on my next trip to the U.S, just because they are way cheaper down there. For an example, Tire Rack sells your Kumho's for $92 US!

Since we seem to have a few new Calgary members, maybe we should have a beer night, just to re-introduce everyone, and check out the car. That is assuming some of us have them on the road.

Anyways, welcome and hope to see you around. :)

If I were you I would order the parts from FOU on the board. Just do a search for his name and send him a pm. I buy all my parts from him and he is always cheaper. As for the service it's self. Yes I do the 100k tune up for MUCH less then dodge, but... I live in edmonton. If you are still interested in having me do the service send me a pm and we can arrange something.

Agreed! However, as you mention, my car still isnt on the road. But come March I will be all for that. I like the growing number of members out here, hopefully will make for some fun times.

with our awesome weather lately im sure people might be willing to bring the cars out (those that have drivable cars ;) ). i think a winter meet could be a cool idea.

and yeah, pm fou about parts ... hes got pretty nice prices too

like snortin said, stay away from dodge haha. when i first got my car i called a number of different places for parts prices. for laughs, here are some prices i got:

lower control arms (turns out you can just replace the ball joint if needed)
crowfoot: 735 each (+tax and 4hrs labour)
big 4: 690 each
hyatt: 340 each

steering rack:
big 4: 3866 parts only
hyatt: i think they wanted a touch under 2gs

Struts:
big 4: 505 each parts only
crowfoot: 540 each parts only
hyatt: 202 each

btw, i think those prices from hyatt are before club discount too. thats some nice mark-up for the same part

good idea to budget a grand for 100k parts. iirc, i think i paid ~850 for all my 100k parts ... there should be some threads floating around somewhere on parts you should replace.

Guess I should have gone to Mitsu like Davin said. I just got all my gaskets and washers to swap out my turbos, and they certainly weren't cheap from Dodge. I knew it would be a little more, but didn't expect it to be that high. They said there was no where they could find the 02 housing exhaust gasket, and the manifold turbo exhaust gasket. Does anyone know if there is somewhere that still has them?

Half my car is laying on the floor in the garage, sure hope things still run when I put it back together.

I just bought my 100k tuneup parts from 3sx.com and was pretty happy with the prices...mind you i picked them up when i was in the US last month.... the shipping and service was great.... I ll be getting mine done here in a few mon.

NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM DODGE

PS- Costco also sells the BF Goodrich tires installed for 1200ish incl install.... thats pretty decent. I m going with the Falken Ziex off Tiretrends.ca tho....

Dodge's prices are completely outrageous. Go to platinum Mitsubishi on Barlow and 32nd in the NE. They are 1/4 the price and provide much better service. Don't forget to do the tensioner at the same time you do the timing belt. As for tires, I picked up the Z rated michilen pilots and they are really good tires. And yes, you definitely need the z rated tires.
Here is an example of dodge. I changed the spark plugs and they wanted $90 per plug, Platinum Mitsubishi wanted $20 and I bought the same ones at NAPA for $8.

For the lower control arm change the ball joint only they’re like $50 each
As for Racks I sell them for ¼ of the price.

I sell all the OEM parts and I make my owned
