View Full Version : Having great luck with my car......
Too bad it is all bad.
I started up the car and went to drive home today and everytime I shifted into 2nd, it was hard and it grinded.
I was able to limit it, and save the tranny on the way home, and it did eventually get better. But what do you guys think? Syncro's, clutch, 2nd gear (1st and 3rd are also sometimes difficult, 1st being the second hardest).
I will be bringing it back to the dealer on Sunday for the suspension, now this is something else I need looked at.
it could be clutch, it could be synchro's.......
I just had it out again, and I am leaning towards the clutch.
It wants to grind when I shift at rpm's over 3000 (mainly in 2nd, but a bit in 3rd also) and it has a grinding noise when I start the car up cold.
Now, it may just need a lube job, but I doubt it. I have a feeling the guy before me abused this car, and the issues I am now faced with are why he sold it. However, I have a 6 month/6000km warrenty on it, so as long as I find out the issues sooner rather then later I am golden.
It will just mean many trips to the dealers, that is all.
I would say it is the synchros myself, mine kinda does it too when i shift quickly at higher RPMs, i got the prob between 1st & 2nd on my 6spd
It possibly could be the syncros, not sure.
I would think if it were the clutch it would happen in all gears, not just the 1-2 shift, and the odd 2-3. 3-2 works fine. First I find a little difficult sometimes also.
I also just found out today that there is an oil leak somewhere. I got an oil change, and low and behold, the bottom of the car was a little messy. I also found out it has a 3" cat, plus a downpipe (which also looked to be 3")
So, when I bring it back to the dealers I have the following things that I want fixed:
1. Suspenion
2. clutch/syncro
3. tune up (minus the oil change and air filter)
4. find out where the oil is coming from
The oil could be from the transfer case, but I doubt it. And if he doesn't fix it and something breaks because of it after my warrenty runs out, I am bringing it back to him and saying this should be under warrenty as it wasn't fixed during the warrenty period when the issue was originally brought up.
Anyway, I will have a smooth running stealth. It is just a matter of time.

I find it cool that you can say that.... when I bought my car I got the taillight warranty :D hech I was 5500KM away from the guy I bought it from, lol
Malice is your car still under waranty?

Ya.
When I bought the car I got a 6 month/6000km limited warrenty. I put a 1000km on it in the first week so that if anything failed, it would do early. I didn't drive hard at all, although I did wind out 2nd and 3rd a couple times. I never launched the car, or raced to high speeds.
If he doesn't fix the issues I brought up and they break in the future, I will bring the car right back to him and tell him the car wasn't fixed the first time when it was under warrenty, and due to that failure to repair the problem originally, it broke. Therefore the warrenty should cover the problems.
If he has an issue with fixing the car, I will remind him that I work at one of Canada's largest law firms as a paralegal, and that I can get better lawyers then he can at a much cheaper rate.
