Heya Jaclyn,
Pretty good, the car is sleeping like usual. How's the unicorn doing? Should be coming out soon hopefully. Did you trace down that tranny problem?
Don't think anyone else is reading this thread. Tyler is too attached to the "WPG guys/girls in here..." thread he started...:D

Uni's doing fine, still sleeping too. Hey, where are you storing your car? Would you be needing a storage place strictly for storing cars? My family is opening a storage business, and you guys are my clients. Or do you have any friends that need a place to store their beauty during the winter?
Give me a shout back if you know of anyone.
I gotta order my clutch soon, times running out, hopefully the snow will melt soon so we can "wake up" the cars and get them rolling. I'm going to check out the recall on the transfer case in the spring since I'm not going to subject my baby to this crap on the road. When I was bringing the car up from the states last spring, I had to drive it through the salt and sand one day and I swear I could FEEL it eating away at the car. I gotta get out of this province to somewhere warm so I don't become too depressed for half the year.:P
Anyways, catch ya on the flip side...

Hey guys/girl(or is it lady now?),
I've been out driving the past week and everythings fine with my car so far. It was acting wierd in mid january after I spun out twice so I parked it the past two months and ordered a new Exedy Heavy-duty clutch and Redline oils. Seeing as how it's been running fine I'll just leave all that stuff in my trunk untill I need it. I probably just got some ice caught up in the driveline and slightly glazed the clutch pads with all the cold weather.
Hey Ted, about the top end knock, I changed the PVC, but it's still there, do I need to get those later-model valve lashers to get rid of the noise?
See you guys soon, and don't forget, Auto Modellista comes out on Tuesday!!! :D
Hey Jaclyn, do you still have the Jackie Chan DVD? They actually had the movie on TBS around Christmastime but they edited a lot of the awesome Mitsubishi sequences out, but at least it was in english except for the singing :p

May need to run a bit of ATF with your oil to clean 'er out. The newer lifters will most likely fix it but it's costly...
You're using OEM filters right?
Ted

Oil filter? if so, yes it is OEM. The only upgrade is the HKS air filter. Once the Redline oils come in this week I want to have the oil changed, any recommendation on an oil filter? Does K&N make one for TTs? I guess I'll also have the whole engine flushed as well, do you know if Mits puts magnets in the oil pan?, if so I guess I'll have to pick up a gasket as well.

Yep, Oil filter. The OEM filter is the best I find, no need to go aftermarket.
A few oil changes 500km apart with some ATF in them will probably do wonders if this has never been done before. I've switched to non-sythetic oil in my car since I find it works best. I just change it every 2000-2500 KM approx so no need for synthetic.

Almost time to bring out the cars...and I think i'll have to do an oil change...never done one myself, so you guys will help me, right? I wanna try the ATF thing to get rid of the lifter tick, as well.
And if you guys help me out, i'll buy all the oil, cause i get 10% off at walmart :D. Ted, what type are you running right now?

What? Another user name I have to remember? :D
I'm running Mobil One Dino oil. I stopped using synthetic about 1.5 years ago. Seems to like it better, but I'm changing it every 2200 KM or so. Given that it's 1/5 the cost of synthetic I'm coming out ahead (oil change comes out to $15).
If I had TT/VR4 I'd probably use synthetic, don't think NA's need it though. Actually think it may be worse (thinner).

waht's this dino oil you speak of...that a term for 5w30 or 10w30? help this lost cause

Dino = made of dinosaurs. :D (non-synthetic)
Normal good quality fossil oil, $2-3/quart. I use the Mobil stuff...

Sorry Ted I guess I'm getting the boards mixed up now, check the other one for the info.
I was out driving this evening (sunday) and the "ricers" are coming out of their holes already, but I doubt that cruise night is going to happen because of the rain and salt. Spring break for the high schools is coming up soon and I expect that'll be the first big week for cruise night, especially if the weather stays nice.
Jaclyn, about the Exedy clutch, I think it's probably only a little better than OEM, not really a race clutch, you'd probably be better off with the RPS stage II. I was searching the boards looking up info on the various Transmission fluids and I don't know if the Redline is the best, it sounds like it's not bad, some people prefer the GM tranny fluid, maybe it just depends on the type of tranny/clutch.

The one in the ad's picture is a red-top, but I would assume they can get any type by ordering one. I'm not running any crazy sound system or hydraulics, so I'll probably just get a red-top one. The sale price is 20$ off the regular price which is ???, but I'll check on the price as I have to go pick up my Redline oils there today.
I was at costco this morn.... (do you guys have that out there) but they got en, yellow $230, Blue $220 & red $170
Mechamits
03-24-03, 01:10 PM
I caved in and bought the red-top this morning and the price came to about 182$ after discount, 14% taxes, and core refund. Not the cheapest battery around but a pretty good deal nonetheless. One of the best performance batteries around, with a 3-year free return policy and an 8-year warranty--pro-rated of course, not bad, that beats DieHard's warranty. I think it even weighs a little less--woohoo, weight reduction!
The only problem is that the battery they gave me is about an inch shorter than the previous one, so I had to put a piece of wood in to keep the battery in place--at least until I figure some other way, either mod the tie-down, put a slab of rubber underneath the battery to raise it up or custom make a new tie down bracket.

I'm running the Exedy clutch. I've had it in since September now, and have been quite happy with it. Very meaty clutch when you look at it, definately holds better than OEM. I bought it to save a little money over the RPS, and decided I would rather blow a clutch over a tranny at the track... Something has to give and I would rather have it be the clutch..no carbon/carbon for me...:whoa:
I also put in a fidanza aluminum flywheel at the same time. Didn't really notice a difference performance wise. The rpm's drop a hell of a lot quicker now and for a while I had an irregular idle. (not sure if it was related or not...)
Mechamits
03-25-03, 07:05 PM
Jaclyn, I can't really return the clutch because I bought it online, I'll probably hang on to it and just lighten the flywheel a little when it comes time for a swap. Even when I upgraded the Clutch pads to the circuit racing pads I really didn't like the feel of them, too grippy for regular daily driving, that's probably also why the plate didn't last too long (race pads on a OEM plate).

Auto Modellista is a Playstation2 video game which comes out tomorrow, it's similar to Gran Turismo except that it uses cel-shading techniques for the graphics so it looks a little more cartoony than GT3. The driving dynamics are similar to GT3 and you can mod the cars a lot like in GT3, check it out:

if you scroll through the screens section you'll see a pic of a red GTO chasing down a white NSX.

I just got Auto Modellista and it was a big let-down, the game is all style and no susbstance, every single car has horrible oversteer, is overtorqued and has poor traction.
Also, my Redline Oils were stopped at the border because the US is blocking all petrolium products at the border, so I put in 5W50 Quaker State with a K&N oil fliter and the pressure's up, the power band is much better and smoother
I also put in the Blitz BOV and it's not too loud, (only blows off with positive Turbo Pressure), but I'm only running stock boost and haven't adjusted the BOV yet.
Mechamits
03-30-03, 02:52 PM
I readjusted the BOV and it's much better, anyways, just wondering if anyone else is cruising tonight, it's spring break so there should be a few people out, even if it is still chilly (dense cold air--turbolicious!)

Hmm, I don't know, I think part of the problem is that the RedLine oils were special-ordered and being distributed via a courier, so they're more heavily regulated probably because they ship by air. I haven't heard of any other circumstances with regular oils or synthetics being stopped.
I was wrong about cruise night, it started last week, Canadian Tire on St. James was still pretty packed tonight(100+ tuner cars) and it was gridlock downtown from the Bay to Main St. Not a single Stealth or 3000GT other than mine, come on guys, even the Probes had five out in a pack. :o

Ted, what oil should i run? i'm gonna be changing it saturday, so i wanna have some clue about what i should put in there. i should go with an OEM filter, too right? fill me in, never done an oil change myself before . come to think of it, are you free saturday? hehe.
geoff, i've heard bad things about redline eating the synchros in our cars (because they're brass). i've heard nothing but good things about GM synchromesh tho, so I think i'm going to try that. let me know how the other stuff turns out.

OEM oil filter is best. On the oil:
That depends on what your running in there right now. Is it "normal" oil or synthetic? I was running Mobile 1 synthetic for about a year but have switched to regular mobile non-synthetic oil. I'm of the believe that the non-synthetic is better for NA's IF you change it more often. Synthetic is probably better for the TT/VR4's though.
Mobile 1 Synthetic is like $6/L or more, non-synthetic Mobile oil is $2.50/L. Instead of running Mobile 1 like I used to and changing it every 3500 KM I use the normal mobile oil and change it ever 2000 KM (1300 miles!) or so (every 4-5 weeks). That's really really often for oil changes. :D However, I'm still ahead as it only costs me about $16 for an oil change which is really nothing compared to the $40 for a synthetic oil change....
If you need help just shoot me a PM. I'm busy (I think, it's tentative at this point) from 6pm on but I should be free from 3pm - 6pm. You could probably come out here to do it...

Certain redline oils are bad for the getrag trannies. However, if you use the right "GL" value oil (GL-4?) then it will be fine. It's the GL-5 stuff (I may have the #'s wrong here) that is very bad for brass.
Some people prefer the syncromesh over the redline, some the other way around. All I know is I put redline MT90 into my tranny and it's a night and day difference. It's like a totally different car...

Yep, sure- How about 4pm on Saturday? Oh wait, do you know how to get to my place? Do you know were St. Andrews is? I'm a bit before that (about 5-10 min from North main perimeter cloverleaf).
You can get a OEM filter at Midway Dodge for about $7-9. Just tell them you want the "DSM car club" discount. The oil you'll need 5 liters I believe (car takes 4.5L). Castrol GTX is good. That's what my car ran for the first 83,000km of it's life. :D I switched to synthetic (Mobil1) got the same ticking experience as you then just went to normal non-synthetic mobile oil.

Good thing I never received the Redline anyways, I researched the tranny fluids after I ordered the Redline and heard the same thing about GM Synchromesh fluids, so I'll probably use that whenever I change the clutch over.
I put in Quaker State synthetic 5W50 with a K&N oil filter and the engine is knoticeably better for performance and much smoother, plus the valve/lifter tick is gone within a minute after startup. The Quaker State was recommended to me by a guy who does a lot of racing out at Gimli and owns an Audi Quattro Turbo, so I would assume he knows something about oils. About the K&N oil filter, it looks small but reading the package, it's a race-ready heavy duty high flow filter and Partsource highly recommended it for the TT--I don't know about the specs compared to the OEM filter
If anyone is into PS2 games, my friend lent me Tokyo Extreme Zero, very cool street race game, plus it has every version of the GTO and they're all modifyable, it kinda makes up for the disappointment with Auto Modellista. I have to admit though that A.M. has gotten better over time, either I'm getting used to it or the game changes based on driver technique, but suppossedly it's a lot better online, I'll let you know.

I'm just before St. Andrews in Rivercrest.
All you need is:
5L of oil
1 OEM filter (Midway is the one on Portage)
Might also want to pick up a PCV valve and an air filter if you haven't changed those either. Have you bought the gas filter yet? if you end up getting quoted outragous prices on this stuff let me know, it may be time for a group buy from mitsupartsdirect.com, or at least check into one of the Canadian Mitsu dealerships.
I use 10W30 in my car since I only drive it in the summer. I don't think 5W30 would be bad for it, but I personally prefer 10W30.

WTF, why was shipping so outrageous? that's just stupid...but i'll see tomorrow, and get back to ya.
Mechamits
04-01-03, 07:19 PM
Why is the PCV so expensive, I picked one up at Canadian tire for less and no shipping charges. Did you order an OEM air filter or a K&N replacement filter, I would recommend K&N to everyone--in the past 4 cars I installed them in I knoticed a slightly higher performance level and at least a 5% improvement in fuel economy--the filters pay for themselves in a year or two and your engine breaths better.
And no, I don't sell them for a living, I've used them and I like them, that's all.
I think I paid about 17$ for the K&N oil filter at Partsource, I've only had it in for a week but so far valve tick is pretty much gone, although changing the oil may have contributed as well. I don't know how much Midway will charge for an oem one, but I'm just letting you know as an option.
Haustorian
04-01-03, 09:26 PM
You're far too convincing Geoff, now i'm going to go buy one :D. Do I still have to replace it every oil change, or is it like other K&N's where i can 'clean' it? I think i'll give it a shot.
tbadiuk
04-02-03, 12:12 AM
The OEM oil filter is $7 with tax. You can't clean the K&N oil filter, you're thinking of the air filter. :D
On the K&N Aircharger, I bought one and then sold it 2 months later. I didn't notice any performance difference (This is a NA by the way). The reason I sold it is:
Install filter- MAS honeycomb is super shiney and looks brand new. Not a spec of anything on it. I was surprised at how clean it was. Car only saw OEM filters up to this point.
(While installing K&N, accidently drop MAS on ground....ARGH!! Car runs rough afterwards)
Start looking for new MAS on Ebay, drive car for about 6-8 weeks while doing so. Finally find MAS off a 97 VR4.
Get MAS, go to install it. Honeycombs that were shiney and clean are completely grey and dusty. K&N DEFINATELY lets in dust particals into the engine. Lots of them too. Now, I don't know if small dust going into the engine matters, but it was enough to convince me to sell it especially since my NA felt exactly the same with or without the K&N. BTW- I do know that there are people who have used them for 100K miles plus without problems so take this for what it's worth. Others swear it was the reason they spun a bearing...
PCV is expensive for the same reason OEM air filters are like $54 CND at the dealer. Rare car = ripoff on parts.

I don't know if any of you guys have seen this car or not but I was over at Canadian Super Shop today and saw a Stealth RT/TT with a Purple Chromaflair paint job--very nice, 5-spoke chrome rims--at least 17", maybe 18". I was talking to the guy inside--I think he may be the shop owner and he told me the guy spent over 6 G's on HKS turbo upgrades and HKS intercooler upgrades, as well as a few other mods like Vein Pressure controllers and Air Fuel Regulators, Borla dual exhaust and more. He told me they did all the mods as they now carry HKS and Greddy parts. I hope he wasn't driving home, the snow started just after I left.

That guy has also had major problems with his car. That is at least his 2nd engine and 2nd transmission in there. The guys a Eastern Sales (Chrysler) have spent a lot of time on that car. :D

Oh, it's THAT one, I knew there was a dead purple one but I didn't know it was this Chromaflair one. Well, it isn't dead anymore and supposedly it really "hauls" now, but if the guy is really intent on power, I can't figure out why he didn't upgrade the intercooler piping and eliminate the cats, that's a lot of lag that he left on.

04-06-03, 10:53 PM
Does he just have the Borla? I'd take it that he'd have a whole DP on deal...at any rate, love to take a ride in that car. Maybe he has an HKS hard pipe upgrade along with HKS side mounts, that's my guess at least.
Well, looks like i'll have my car out saturday. Ted, Jaclyn, what bout you guys?

Should be ordering the 60k service parts monday/tuesday, have them in about a weeks time. Won't be out for this weekend, but may be out for the 19th. If not that 26th for sure pretty much. Might be flying out to check out a black 95 SL in T.O. - Miles kind of high though (160,000 KM) so I'm kind of iffy on it...
Oh ya, a bunch of us are going to World of Wheels on Saturday @ 2pm (so far my friend Sal, Sach from East India + his wife/kid, Jacyln (is there an 'e' at the end of that?), me, possibly my GF...) anyone else interested?

According to the guy at Canadian Super Shop, the owner didn't want to spend the extra grand on the hard pipes, very odd, if I changed anything it would be the pipes. He has the Borla exhaust but the tips are just round angle-cut tips instead of the Borla tips.
I'm out to B.C. so no cruising for me for the next two weekends, Sunday was really cold and not too many really nice cars out although there was a decent crowd at Canadian Tire--mostly spectators though.

Anyone ever changed a steering wheel on these cars before? just ordered a MOMO one...should be an adventure, along with the airbag .
Enjoy BC, probably is warm there, i'm guessin? you taking the car?
OH ya and when are we having the first official meet :D?

Did you get the adapter for the wheel too? I remember reading about somebody selling an adapter really cheap on 3si a couple of weeks ago I think...?

Nah, now i'm looking for the adapter...care to find the thread where the dude was selling it cheap :D? I"ve tried searching, and there's one + a wheel for sale now, so hmmm.
I think geoff said he's gone for then...depends on jaclyn's clutch too, I guess. Did you end up getting the parts from that dealership in Alberta?

I can't even remember what board I read it on! :(

Just finalizing the order. Hyatt mitsu rocks! Prices are comparable to mitsupartsdirect.com and no duty! :whoa:
I'm getting all the parts for about $930 CND + shipping which will be about $30 max. I'm guessing (registered mail).
Here are the parts:
MD172376 Power Steering Belt
MD193874 Timing Belt
MD190981 Oil Pump
MD158618 Oil Pump Screen & Tube
MD183239 Oil Screen/Tube Gasket
MD189778 Oil Pump Gasket
MD972005 Water Pump (Kit)
MD120700 Front Crank Seal
MD319040 Timing Belt Tensioner
MD318474 Alternator Drive Belt Tensioner
MD140071 Timing Belt Tensioner Pulley
MD319022 Timing Belt Idler Pulley
MD152603 Cam Shaft Seals (FOUR OF THEM)
(note: Can't get the A/C belt from them, not in their system)
I have a quote sitting next to me for ~$1450 from the local Midway Dodge dealer, and that's WITH the 20% club DSM discount.
For reference, list price for the parts is about $1800-$1900 at the cheapest Dodge dealer (that's without the DSM discount) so Hyatt Mitsu in Alberta (no PST) is like 1/2 price! :whoa:
I'll make a post about it once I get the parts. I'm also going to see if I can put together a price list for things like rotors, brakes, plug wires, etc.

Momo wheel eh, nice, I remember a seller on 3SI but he wanted a lot of money for the wheel and hub. I guess you'd have to disconnect the battery or else you might get "punched" in the face.
I ran into Jaclyn sunday night and she didn't expect her VR-4 to be out until the first weekend of May. I'd like to be here for Easter/ May long weekend, it'll be an insane cruise night like always, but I'll be in TO :(
Haustorian
04-07-03, 07:32 PM
LOL, not looking forward to getting punched. Have to figure outa couple things...my buddy knows which wire NOT to cut, going from there.
Nah, not buying from the dude who wanted like 270 USD for it...toooo much.
So Geoff, when ARE you in town?
Mechamits
04-08-03, 10:37 AM
I probably won't be out cruising again till the 4th and 11th of May:(
Maybe Jaclyn can lend you her service manual, it should have all the wiring and install diagrams.

Well, if the bay doesn't kill my engine when the do my 60k + oil pump + tensioners + alternator + AC clutch swap in about a week I'll be recommending them. Don't really know anybody that I could recommened to work on a VR4 though at this point.
(Do avoid Allied Auto though!)

About the clutch swap, Winnipeg Jeep is alright, I haven't had any problems with the swap they did on mine and I think they charged less than Royal on Regent (Do NOT go there, they are evil  and don't know how to work on cars, cost me $1000 in damages and losses    ).
Now I wish I drove to B.C., the roads are so nice and smooth out here, nice cool dense air, no salt on the roads, although no 3Ss yet.

Hmmm...Jaclyn, i still say do it yourself, sure it may be hard at first, but hey, think of how fun it'll be ! I don't konw how well the bay is for AWD trannies...how bout great rate transmission, or precision, or GW? they might be beter off.
Hope there's some good stuff at WOW...you guys will have to post about it saturady, i won't go till sunday (stupid work/exams).
Oh, went for a drive down River road today, damn that's a great road :D. then went through KP...saw a guy with a 94+ stealth TT (green, of course, Ted :)). he looked like a young knob, so didn' bother stopping to say anything, figure we'll see him around anyway.
tbadiuk
04-11-03, 02:43 AM
Eastern is OK. Don't think they're really great or anything. More of a "volume" garage.
The thing about the Bay I find is that they seem to be really relaxed and really unrushed. I didn't get that 'used car salesman' feeling from them. They were really level with me when I talked to them as well. I don't know, I just got a fairly good feeling from them, hard to describe. I also got a good vibe from Midway Chrysler on Pembina. Very honest, helpful, etc. Only thing against them is they've never done a 60k so I'd rather go with the guy that did Tyler's car since he's at least (so far) proven himself once.
On WOW, sounds good- I'll be there for 2pm. I'll probably do dinner afterwards though....Mmmmm...butterchicken! :D
On the green TT, yah- I think most TT's (2nd gen) in this city are green. We had a really high number of green 2nd gen's in Canada. I used to like green actually (it is a nice green) until I started shopping for a 3/S. 75% of the ones a ran across for sale were green! Got annoying after a while (me: "What color is it?" , seller: "Green with grey leather", repeat like x 10).

Ted, I'm thinknig next year that the 3/S club should have a display...with the stuff they had there, and the stuff we have in our cars, we could EASILY do it. Other than that, it was a joke.
Which guy did you talk to? was it the 300ZX guy? i talked to him before talkign tto the owner...got to sit in it and shit.
Get this: local car, he did ALL the work himself in his parents' garage...custom made everything...him and a buddy did it. custom dash, custom fuel system, stand alone SDS management, custom motor mounts, you name it. he's big into auto CAD (what he does at work) so he knew his way aronud the program. lotsa CNC machined stuff...it's almost done, he said it'll be running within a week. expects low 11s  and 400whp  . not doubting it tho...he's got an amazing fuel system, aeromotive external pump, among other things.
his gauges alone were sooooo expensive; i mean, he had 8 gauges on top of his tach 7 speedo, all autometer. so nicely done too...my favourite car ever.
but i got his email addy, and he said he'd help out probably on a TT conversion :D. cause i mean, it's all bolt on, compared to strapping a fucking skyline engine in there. that alone was worth the price of admission. Nicest guy ever, too. also, he purposely [put the engine where he did so he could have a good weigh distribution. it's gonna be a beast..and the best part is, he's the nicest guy.

Possibly, Sach was already in it for two years with the T-A so he can give us info. However I'm not even really sure if it's worth it givin that WOW probably charges an arm and a leg. Might be wrong on that though, best bet to talk to Sach.

Nah, a guy from Supershop. He told me they have the chamolean stealth in right now and it's getting all HKS stuff (turbo's,etc). He also told me:
1) It's running 25PSI. When I ask what they'd done for fuel he told me stock fuel system was more than good enough and started spouting stuff about big block chevy flow rates, etc.
2) He also said it won't be making even 400HP at the crank and that our cars are "over rated" HP wise when I said stock is 300-320HP.
3) It's runnihg "8 computers" to control everything.
plus more that I've forgotten.....
I have never had someone state with such confidence and authority the amount of bullshit that that guy spouted.
If you have contact info for the guy that ownes the Chameleon stealth PLEASE send it to me since I'm worried about his car!

WOW...That is very, very impressive. We need him to come out, I'd love to talk to him. I don't know anyone with skills like that in this city....

yeah, WOW ain't cheap I bet at all...we'll talk to sach, but I know my buddy is getting his Trans Am in nexty yaer even if it kills him, heheheeh. but i mean, i bet the dude with the blue vr4 would be down too.....we'll have to see bout costs.
This guy has the craziest skills i've ever seen...he'll be surrounded by import enthusiats/ricers everywhere he goes now tho, so it'll be hard to talk to him. such a knowledgeable guy, i'm confident he could work on a turbo car no problem.
no wonder the green paint was so nice - it was house of colours...i still like your brandywine better, tho.

Jacyln, I can hook your sub up most likely. I'm not familiar with the basslink unit but I'm sure it needs:
1) power
2) ground
3) remote turn on
4) signal, either full range or filtered, most likely line level but possibly speaker evel.
I'm not aware of a "direct plug in" in our sound systems for something like this. Did you get any instructions with it?
In any case Tyler is coming over to my folks place and we're going to change his oil this coming weekend. Your more than welcome to come visit then or even earlier this week if you need it up ASAP.

Yep, That's the plan and yes I plan on owning 3 of them (winter, summer daily driver and summer "toy") and yes I'm certified insane. :p This car won't really cost anything as I'll sell the Probe GTS for about $10-12k so only about 3-5k to add on...

This summer will be stupid. absolutely stupid. It's gonna be park and watch, I think, for most of it.
I still wanna live out the dream of having like 7 3/Ses parked on portage, or In advance...ohhh, so nice.
Better yet, get to Canadian Tire parking lot at like 7, before it gets crazy, and park em in there. ohhh man....we have to do it...just for sheer shock factor.

LOL....Let's put it this way. The Stealth doesn't see SUNLIGHT let alone get parked outside. It stays in a very dark garage, at the very back. I pretty much am only out a night so I think the car has spent less time in the sun than most 2002 model cars!
Yes, I plan on a big garage. It might be a 2-car garage only though one of them may have to sit outside. Or, I may spring and get one of those "shed" type things build if (who am I kidding, more like when) it starts bugging me.
Don't have a house yet. I've been saving for a house for like the last 5 years. Problem is about 2 years ago the market in this city went CRAZY and house prices have gone up like 30-35% since 2000-2001. I refuse to buy at the "top" so I've been patiently waiting (and saving), and car shopping in the mean time. I split my time between an apparment by the UofM (my GF's) and my parents house. It's a split level so basically the upper level is mine and lower level is there's so it works out pretty good.
LOL....Typing out my life story here...:D

I knew you'd have a 3 car, or at least 2 and a shed. i can't IMAGINE you leaving one outside..no way.
DIdn't think house prices were that bad...then again, my buddie's parents are selling their house in southland park for 280K or something ridiculous, when it borders on a farmer's field. I thought our house was nicer, but nowhere near their asking price.

Heyooo,
You guys mentionned a Black 1st -gen Stealth, I talked to the guy last year and he seems like a good guy, the car is a TT by the way. If the Green 2nd-gen TT had chrome rims it might be the guy I ran into at Tint King, he's the one with straight exhaust right off the turbos . When I ran into him he was trying to open up a hop-up shop and said he might specialize in 3S cars!!!--see if you can find him and ask him about it
I saw two 3S cars here yesterday, one Black 1st-gen Stealth and a baby-blue GT with an aluminum wing :whoa: ugly!

Hey Haustorian;
I usually go out on Sunday nights after work but didn't do much last year because of work...As far as what I have left to do on the car?
Well it is going in right away(next tuesday) for stage ii centerforce clutch, 4 core becool rad, 2 additional push fans, upgraded ALT(need way more amps for all the toys and bigger fans),Hypertech power programmer and a Comp Cams Cam for blown engines...that *should* do me for this year but we'll see how she does around august...I would also like to scissor the doors this year but initial research shows no specific kits for F-Bodys(and to further complicate the matter, its a convertible), so a 4000k mod might end up being 6000k, a bit pricey for me after all the engine mods this year, might have to wait for next year.

Hi Jaclyn :)
Who else would be XtraHot? :)
Your right, wow is only 50 bucks to get in, but to be completely honest you'll end up spending huge dollars in terms of accesories for your display just so you don't feel like a schlep infront of all the other cars when you get there.
When I went in, I hade a custom red carpet made for under the car with 'XtraHot Formula' embroidered(sp)on the carpet, some pontiac stanchions, a battery charger to keep the juice flowing to the car so I could run the sound system, an additional power outlet will also cost you like another 20 bucks and this is all on top of elbow oil, waxing, wheel centering etc , etc, etc and maybe a flatbed tow to get you there.

The unfortunate reality of it is that Winnipeg has the lowest home prices in all of Canada relative to the size of city size. So keeping that in mind, don't be surprised if we near Ottawa level prices before we even out. And if that happens an 'Average' house will be 120k-150k instead of the 70-110k we're use to now.

We're also relatively 'poor' income wise here too though, so I don't see how a lot of people are going to pay for their morgages if the economy tanks. Right now it's being sustained by a weak CND dollar but even that's erroded as the CND$ has strengthened about 10% against the $USD in the last little while.
Guess I'll wait and see. I never imaged the NAZ would drop 80% either so you never know. I'll just keep with the cars for now. I can live in the Stealth, it's fairly roomy...:p

There's no specific kits for Fbody's? My buddy wants one for his 02 Trans Am really badly...guess i'll have to break the news to him that it's going to cost him an arm and a leg to have one custom fabricated. The doors on those things are huge, so you'll need stronger ones than say, the ones on a celica.

That's the key, otherwise you can't succeed...a guy i work with is taking enginnering, and it sounds like the hardest course ever conceived; i dunno, for the amount of work you do, and to get outta school making only 50K a year, not worth it to me.

Hi guys/lady, just got back from the Mission Drags, pretty nice, up until a later-model Camaro smacked the wall doing almost 80 MPH(driver was okay but pride and car shattered). Cryptic's VR-4(he's on the B.C. boards) and a Green Stealth TT were racing and were pretty much in the 13-14 second range, not bad for imports. There was a 680HP Supra there but he was supposedly getting bad times, mid-12s, but there was a Turbo Talon in the low 12s. Only a small handful of domestics were even getting into the 10s and 11s and they were heavily modded.

Yeah, I'm hoping for installation beginning on the 28th of April. I'm also hoping to install it at my uncle's shop which IS in Rivercrest, Ted, not a long drive for you.
Still hoping for May 1!

Yep, right on, my grandparents live beside my uncle's house with the shop. You know it!
Have any of you seen a blue ferrari while out and about? I'm not sure what kind it was, looked a little older though. Sort of like a race car with a rolled front bumper sorta thing. I think I'd know it if I saw a picture of the style. Anyway, if was fucking NICE. I was on my way home from school so I didn't get a good look at it. I was going 100+ one way, and he was doing the same the other way.

I remember seeing a blue Ferrari Dino "Replicar" a while back, I've only ever seen four REAL Ferraris in Wpg. and they were all red.
Haustorian
04-22-03, 11:21 AM
I think there's two blue ones, uinless i'm thinknig both cars are the same...
last year, there was a blue one at world of wheels, a 308 (78?). and the guy who owns all the Ming/doctor dents has a blue one as well. not sure if they're the same car, though.
I know there's a red F355, 360 and two older red ones...you thinking of those Geoff?
Yeah, this one definetly looked older. Like a race car it was. <--good english eh. :D

What diff. does green make anyway? you're repainting it Brandywine anyway...and that's a DAMN nice car. even looks good in green...
lady3kgt
04-24-03, 09:41 PM
Original paint is always better, didn't 3000GT come in a brandywine sort of color anyways?
tbadiuk
04-25-03, 03:11 AM
Sort of, came in a maroon type color which is quite nice. Problem with green is places like under the hood or going to look really ugly unless you pull the engine. With something like black I don't think it looks bad at all if the firewall in the engine is black and the car is another color. Hmmm....Brandywine + Green, kind of Christmas-y :p
Yah, $18k is a killer deal, if it was the car I wanted. Given that I'd do a 3k conversion plus a paint job (that wouldn't look good unless I pull the engine and stripped the car) I'm looking at at least $3000 extra over say finding a nice black VR4, so savings evaporate. Plus my cousin has a green Stealth RT/TT I just found out (bad 2nd gear syncro, he doesn't drive it anymore LOL) so I just couldn't live with a green one! :D

Winnipeg just got it's new "best car" last week, some guy bought a 1967 Ford GT40--for real, totally authentic and he paid over 300,000$ for it. It's orange and supposedly he actually drove it on the streets, ouch! :whoa: It's probably my all-time favorite "American" car--seeing as how it's somewhat British too--and it's a Shelby!

Damn, those are sweet ass cars. If I payed $300 000 for a car you'd damn well better believe I'd be driving. What's the point otherwise?
My gf's dad has a friend that owns (not sure of years) a charger, 2 hemi cudas, a superbee, and some other cars too. None of which have over 1500 km's on them. All original too. I wanna go see them sometime. That would be sweet.

Yeah, he offered to help alot on mine, but he's not too sure on some thigns...like he'd drop the engine in, and hook as much up as we're capable of, then drive to a mechanic...he doesn't really wanna do all this stuff for a living, but i'm trying to convince him to do it on the side :D
front clip means yeah, basically the entire ECU/wiring harness, and the whole front end of the car. it's a 93 I believe. don't buy it from under me, or I will kill you. seriously.

I know TTs are nice but why do they incite people to make death threats?
I saw two 3S cars I don't remember seeing before a Red 1st gen Stealth (with stock two-tone rims) and a Black Stealth with 19" (!!) chrome multi-spoke rims (something like 15+ spokes), although it wasn't lowered so it looked wierd. I also saw 2 base model 1st gen Stealths but I have a feeling it's the same ones I've seen before in the Maples.

It's green in the pic but the add lists "sunshine yellow" so I assume it's a repaint (again). The guy supposedly repainted the gold exterior at some point. Seems to be same rims and interior (tan).

the ad that pops up is a 95 green stealth TT from calgary, so I dunno...the dude who threatened mechamits was the guy with the gold 99, repainted to green...what did u search under? i tried mitsubishi in canada but it did not work.

Hmmm...ok,
search canadatrader.com for "model=mitsubishi" and province="albertba" and "year start=1999", "year end=1999"
Don't file in make or it won't find the car. It's a 99 green 3000GT, all done up with paint, rims, airbag suspension, etc.
