Hey all,

Looking for some help please. After much searching I am finally now just waiting for my 95 3kGT to arrive from south of the border. The one thing I really want to do is convert to a proper km/h speedo face. Thinking I'll just convert to a Cdn Stealth face, my Dodge dealer says I can't buy just the gauge face - need to by the whole gauge - no thanks! Have any of you put an aftermarket gauge face using km/h on your cars? If so, where did you get it?

Also, just wondering if any Calgary members around. Personally know of just one 3kGT in the city - lots of Stealths around though. Would also be curious if anyone in Calgary has found a good shop for servicing Stealths/3kGT's?

I'm sure there will be more questions later - thanks!

I don't think it is that easy of just replacing the gauge faces. Remember, the cpu was designed for where the numbers should be on a US 3kgt, and will go back there. You car would have to be re-calibrated for KM's if you wanted to put Canadian gauges in.

You may have to buy th whole unit.

Anyway, just my thoughts.

I was assuming the gauge itself would be the identical and just the face markings different for mph vs kph. Thought the needle stop and sweep would be indentical otherwise - perhaps not?

I thought about doing that when I got mine but it has both on there, just the MPH are the bigger ones. I got used to it after awhile. :)

I thought about it for a while..... but I as well got used to it. Wait till you get your car and drive it for a month you may like it??? LOL I know when I am driving in town I gotta keep it under 40, lol

juss to add when I look at a Canadian stealths gauges I find the numbers are too small cause there are too many #'s, in MPH you got from 0 to 180(or 160 for N/A) and when it is in KM you got o to 280, lol that is a lot more numbers:D it juss don't look right too me, I'm happy wit MPH

As for swapping a canadian cluster for an american one I can't see it being too different, I'd assume the clusters are calibrated in the same way it is just that the #'s are printed different, but that is just My opinion, I can't see why it would not be that way though!!!

LOL, the limit IS afterall a hundred.

WHat bigboi said, you'll get used to it. You'll be converting from mph to km/h so fast after a while, you'll amaze yourlsef, lol. Plus, the km/h are written under the mph and clearly visible in both day and night.

I'm in Calgary, and my Stealth was brought up from California. I thought about changing it for a while also, but got used to it. The only problem is seeing those little red number while you're wearing sunglasses....at first anyways before you know the conversion.

As for a place in town to service a 3s, look at this thread.

(Import Car Service. )

I know of 4 other 3000gt's in town. A red vr4, a white vr4, a silver vr4, and a white SL.

Thanks for the comments to date everyone - I'm guessing like you it is something I'll get used to!

BigBoi - I'm surprised what low rpm you're turning for that road speed! Excellent! I'm not far from Montana and their open highways - maybe I'll have to head down there ....

Also - memystealthandi - thanks for the recommendation to Import Car Specialists here in Calgary - I'll definitely check them out! I'll also be watching for those other 3kGT's!

I must say I really like our Canadian based site - great to keep a local perspective! :)

Howdy Pops!
Rob (memystealthandI) put me on to Dan @ Import Car. http://forum.canada3si.org/images/icons/icon14.gif
Really nice guy. He & his son run the shop. They've done lots of work of Stealths and Supra's. I had him do an inspection on my 93 Stealth TT, and just Tuesday had him change all my fluids and replace my downpipe that was full of holes. He's not the fastest guy in the world, but he seems to do good work, and his prices seem decent. Nice thing is he doesn't mind if you're under the hoist checking things out, while you wait.
Good luck on your new purchase!

Import Car does great work. If you're a member of the Calgary DSM club they may give you a discount also. I believe they were trying to work out a deal with them. A lot of members take their cars there now. (they adopted me since there's no "stealth club") Sometimes import car can be a little on the expensive side, but you can be sure the work is going to be done right the first time.

Oh yeah, the calgary DSM message board is located at www.calg.dsm.org
Some other local car forums that you may know/not know about are:
www.albertacars.net (calgary based, currently switching servers forum should be back up shortly, I'm a moderator on that site.)
www.beyond.ca (calgary based, car enthusiast forum)
www.v8less.com (edmonton based)
www.speedcowboys.com (calgary based, a little too "street racing" oriented for my taste)
www.importstrip.com (california based, a lot of the same members as beyond.)
