I have a 1994 Stealth TT.

The o-ring that goes between the intake tube and the manifold is worn and keeps popping out.

See pictures...

Have any of you seen this problem before? Does anyone know the part number or where I can find a replacement for it?

When I look at CAPS, I can only find the part number for the ring clamp (1198S). There seems to be no mention of the o-ring.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Dave

There isn't a separate part number for this, it is "included" with the purchase of a new Y-pipe. You cannot order this separately.. and yes, we all have the same problem.. some worse than others apparently!

Only solution to this is to get a polished y-pipe and use silicon couplers, or perhaps fashion your own type of "o-ring"

haha yep ... there would be no $200+ shiny chrome y-pipe business if everyones gasket actually worked.

ghetto temp fix = jam a tennis ball/water bottle between the batt and y-pipe to hold it in place. (this will get you to the hardware store to buy a t-bolt...)

semi-less-ghetto temp fix = now that youve got a t-bolt, throw one of those fat elastic bands or something around the tb opening as a temp gasket and use a t-bolt clamp to hold it all down. (this worked great for me while i waited for my fancy looking y-pipe to arrive)

normal fix = get a metal y-pipe. (this gives you time to save your cash for...)

not-ghetto-at-all fix = buy a fmic kit.

Thanks to you all for the speedy and informative replies. I'm learning lots here.

For now, I was able get it back together by flipping the o-ring around. The rim on the other side did the trick to keep it aligned correctly inside the y-pipe while installing it. Then I cranked the clamp nice and tight. After that it was fine.

I think your suggestion to use a T-bolt is a wise one, Surreal, and I will consider a polished y-pipe.

Cheers.
