Ok, I am glad I work at a law firm, because right now I could KILL THE MORON WHO SOLD ME THAT CAR.

I brought my car to Dodge today for the recall check, and they found the following issues:

1. rack and pinion is leaking
2. clutch pressure plate has collapsed
3. tranny is leaking
4. all 4 struts are not just blown, the left 2 are leaking

Now I knew I needed shocks, but I didn't they were that bad. I am now contacting the Ministry of Transportation to find out what is required for certifying a car, and what recourses I have. It may be possible that I may not have a TT by the end of the week depending on what routes I have to take.

Also, it is unfortunate that I am normally a very nice person and sometimes easily a push over. I don't like being to bossy, but this is just topping off my day with bad service (it also appears that DSR sold me a USED SAFC, passed off as new).

I love the car, it is very comfortable and hella fast. But if things keep going the way they are going, I may have no choice. This really sucks as I have already bought $3000 worth of mods for it.

Once the Ministry of Transportation calls me back I will have a better idea of how to proceed. I am also going to call the used car dealers association, and see what they have to say.

I AM NOT HAPPY.

And I think I should probably switch the shifter back to the old one, as my short shifter is very stiff.

Either that, or lube the crap out of the short shifter.

If you're gona get all your money back for your car, take out ALL your mods, and put them on your next one if you're gona buy another one, and if not, sell the mods here to members and get your money back.

Man that totaly sucks. Its a nice looking car, but I guess mechanicaly isn't the greatest.

I'm pretty sure that they must make any and all changes to your car to make it road worthy with no extra charge too you. You would be able to find out more about this then me.

OK, here is the break down from dodge:

1. shocks - replace all four due to leaking. Cost - $2573.70
2. Rack and Pinion is leaking. Cost - $863.85
3. Clutch pressure plate collapsed. Cost - $1331.60
4. Transmission fluid leaks. Cost - $415.00 (while the transmission is out to repair th clutch).

Plus they have also suggested the timing belt etc. for the 100,000 km which is coming up.

Of the mods that I put on that I would remove would just be my shifter knob and boot (which are on nice and loose this time...ugg, that was PITA), the turbo timer and the deck. The springs, catback, intake and downpipe came with the car.

I called the Ministry of Transportation and left a message to talk to a complaints officer there, along with talking to the Used Car Dealers Association. The UCDA suggested go back to the place I bought the car and see what he has to say. So tomorrow once the car goes back to the mechanic (I returned the car tonight) they will take a look at it and go from there.

I have a feeling the guy is going to ask me to help pay for repairs, and I am go to flat out say no. Either he 1. makes all repairs or 2. returns my money or he will see me court. He has the 2 options. He knows I work at a large law firm (1 of the top 10 in Canada), and I can really mess him up that way.

This really sucks because I brought up most of these issues a few weeks ago when I brought the car back to have the springs installed. I made a list and gave it to them listing:

shocks
oil leak
bad idle
windshield washer sprayer issues
clutch

The only thing the guy fixed was the windshield washers, as it was just a kink.

I love the car, but this is testing my patience and effecting my work (something I normally don't let happen). If we go to court, I will sue him and his mechanic and it will cost them WAY more to deal with me there, then just trying to fix my car. If he plays nice, I will even play nice by sending him to 3sx for parts, as they are the cheapest I have found for shocks, and may as well get a stage 2 clutch from them while I am at it.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. But I am tired and this is just getting to me.

Thanks and later.

For $2573.70 for just the shocks you could get a set of TEIN for less. Make sure you suggest that aswell :)

the MOT will give you the option of sending out an inspector who will take a look at the car to see if it is road worthy, if it's not, he will take your plates and you will be walking, which is bad but good, were you sold the car as being certified? because if you were and it shouldn't have passed certification then you will probably get your money back by going after the shop that certified your car "I wouldn't have bought the car if it wasn't safe to drive" If you want to get the dealer/salesperson then they have to have lied to you or not written down the specifics on paper, if your bill of sale say's "as is" good luck! it is very hard to win in court with that one. to pass certification your vehicle has to have ALL of the equipment that was in it when it left the factory, except for, get this THE AIR BAGS!! stupid huhI think I might still have some phone numbers that you can call about this stuff, i went through basically the same thing, If I find the numbers I'll post them, P.S. VERY IMPORTANT: the longer you wait the harder it is to prove that the damage was there before you purchased the car, if the MOT inspector takes your plates MAKE him write a report about what is wrong with the car for you personally not just his records and get him to Write down that the damage was obviously there before you bought the car.

The car was sold certified. His mechanic certified it. However, I wouldn't trust his mechanic to certify my nephews big-wheel right now.

I have only had ownership for 1 week. And these issues are all issues I brought up prior to taking ownership.

So I figure I have a good case. I have a dated documents outlining my timeline. Now it is just a matter of whether he treats the leaks as warrenty items or as work that should have been done prior to transfering title. Also, it is important to find out what qualifies as required for certification.

I will find out more today.

Well guys, it might not have the car come tomorrow. :(

I spoke with the dealer and now they are ordering in parts in order to repair the rack and pinion and the leaking rear shocks, certification items.

So in essence, I was sold an uncertified car. I will be calling the guy tomorrow to tell him news, only after calling the MTO, OMVIC, and the Used Car Dealers Association. I only want my money back at this point. The car was beautiful, but too much of a hassle.

I will call him on speaker phone from one of the lawyers office, and see what he says.

Anyway, I may still troll around. There is a chance I may not get my money back, and then I will still stick around, but I am going to push for it.

Wish me luck. :(

Just keeping you guys updated:

Well, I spoke with a lawyer at my firm, and he totally agrees with rescinding this contract. He feels the car was fundamentally flawed at the time of purchase, and the mechanic didn't do his job when I asked him to look into issues.

Plus, with the car not being certified because it wasn't certifible, he hasn't met his obligations in our contract and I can rescind as our contract hasn't been finalized.

Anyway, it looks like I will be without the car soon. I don't know if I will overly miss it, but it was an awesome car. I do think I will not be getting a stealth, as I think they are cursed when it comes to me. Both the ones I looked at turn out to be lemons.

I am not sure what I will buy instead or when I will buy, but I would like to thank you guys for your support in the time being, and to CrazyKid for the help with the short shifter and turbo times (which I now have to remove).

I will let you know when this is all over, as I think I will have a laundry list of mods for sale.

Well, looks like this nightmare is over.

I spoke with dealer and he is willing to return all of my money, less administrative fees and the milage put on the car. I am giving him $0.10 a KM for the milage, which work out to about $204.50. The guy called me about my stereo and stuff in the car and asked when I could grab it, as it was going to auction TONIGHT. I said that was near impossible, and if he could wait until saturday, he said fine.

So it looks like I rented a stealth for a couple weeks. It is going to cost me about $900 for this experience. That is the best $900 I have ever spent if it gets me out of this hellish deal. I should have known better from the start to trust my instincts about the dealer, but I was blinded by the car and how nice it was. A lesson learned there.

I will have a number of parts up for sale soon, all of which have NEVER touched the car with the exception of a ypipe I bought used, and the short shifter.

Its good that you are going to get your money back without going to court. Sucks that you had such a bad experiance with the 3/S platform. I haven't had any real problems with mine in 2 1/2 years other then the TC. I guess its a good thing that we didn't install any other parts on your car.
Any idea what you are going to get now? And what y-pipe is it you are selling? I call dibs on everything :p j/k

What parts do u have for sale seriously?

Crazey

Yeah, what parts do you have. If you're selling, i'd be interested in buying some, hehe.

Malice

Well, the parts are as follows:

DN polished ypipe (used, 3 months old)
Darkside Racing lightened stock size pulley (new)
3kgt short shifter (used for 300 km)
Apex-i turbo timer (used for 2 weeks)
Greddy BOV (new, adapter on route)
Greddy Profec eo-1 (new)
Greddy emanage (new all 3 wiring harness)
Walboro 255 FP (new)

That is all I can think of for now.

I also have a JVC MP3 cd player, with wiring harness and DIN adapter kit. The adapter kit were slightly modded for the turbo timer. I had the turbo timer mounted under the deck, with the wire running through the kit to the back of the consol. CrazyKid saw it, it was pretty clean.

If anyone is serious about any of the parts, PM me and let me know. I was thinking about holding onto the electronics for my next car, but I can be convinced otherwise ;) .

Also, I didn't a bad experience with the 3s platform. I had a bad experience with a bad car and a bad dealer. Would I buy another given the right deal, hell ya. I don't blame an entire line of cars for one issue. I like the stealth, however, it would have to be one hell of a deal for me to go there again.

It's a real shame that things didn't work out well for you. :( Fortunately it sounds like it'll be resolved in your favor (mostly!). It looks like I'm following along the same upgrade route that you started. I'd be interested in the following pieces:

DN polished ypipe (used, 3 months old)
3kgt short shifter (used for 300 km)
Apex-i turbo timer (used for 2 weeks)
Greddy BOV (new, adapter on route)

PM me with the prices you're looking for.

Hi Malice I am happy you got your money back from them.

How much time did it take before you got your DSR pulley from purchase to your door. It's been two months here exactly and still counting !:(

Malice
03-23-03, 10:39 AM
It took them well over a month to get my stuff to me. I am still waiting on the BOV adapter, which is coming close to 2 months.
