Anyone in the toronto area want to get into rally racing and some solo II stuff? Im starting a three night 'navigational rally course' out in brampton somewhere on monday, where the first day is class, second day is a rally, and third is class again. $40 cant go wrong.
This wont be like WRC rallying, but they tell me this is where people getting into the sport, start out. More like you have a map of back roads and have to get to checkpoints at certain times. Ill know more after monday. (going to get nuts with the Topaz this week:) )
But for people who dont want to completley destroy thier car ;) i am also going to get into some solo II (or 'Autocross' / 'Autoslolom') events this summer. that is where they make mini race courses in big parkinglots with cones, and you try to get the fastest time around the course. ~not really designed for a 4,000 lb beast, but what the hey!~ Again this is where people become involved in racing, and work thier way up to a racetrack (Solo I)
I have absolutely NO experience racing my car, either Drag strip or road course, and i just want to have some fun. Check out the Toronto Autosport Club link at the bottom here and see if anyone wants to give it a shot with me, understanding that im not out to win any championships, more to learn to be an awsome driver, and have some fun squealing tires around a parkinglot. Yehaw!
Anyone who has done any racing, drop in your 2 cents
"The easiest way is to join a club that has a Solo II focus, such as the Toronto Autosport Club. Then you can either jump right in as a competitor, or get involved by coming out to a couple of events as a spectator or worker to better understand the sport and the competition!
Solo II is inexpensive, fun, and an excellent place to learn or practice advanced driving skills. Knowledge gained from competing here will serve you well in all other motorsports."
