Well, I was waiting for some other senior citizens to put their ages in, but the batteries on their wheelchairs must have run out.....
Hell, I've had my driver's license longer than some of you have been alive. Scary!

I grew up in the Toronto Marlboro's organization, playing against guys like Paul Coffee, but it took me until I turned 40, before the game finally gave me my first pay cheque. I signed a contract, and now get paid to play games in rec leagues and tournaments as a goalie for hire. Not enough to buy a car, mind you, but enough to pay for an engine rebuild, or a new set of wheels/tires. It's great; my wife doesn't complain when I go to work (play hockey ;) ), and I get to spend all the money that I make on my cars.
After I was laid off I had to think of something to say when people asked what I did for a living. Actually, it was some friends that started telling people that I was a professional goalie...LOL!!!
hey super ferrari... One of my best friends goes to queens, he's in engeneiring. He just bought a house there too.

I can't believe all u guys in your early 20's with these cars. Makes me jealous. I was driving a poorly running Dodge Shadow until I was 25, then I got a nice red Talon Tsi, which was stolen from my driveway within a month of getting it. Luckily it was recovered... well the frame was. The police are still looking for the leather seats, dash, wheels, and engine. :(

When I was 19 all I could do was read about hot cars; driving them didn't seem to be an option. Buying one at that time wasn't even a remote possibility. I was just happy that my North American clunker's windows would roll up most of the way. I have to hand it to you guys, and give you a great deal of credit for being able to purchase and own something like a Stealth. Obviously you are far better at handling your money at that age than I ever was. And I was working full time in the IT industry at the time. Lucky buggers! (Ya, I'm definitely jealous!!!) :)
Im 18 and I worked my ass off since i was 12 saving all the money I could and investing it, only to end up buying an Sl (slow launcher). Mark my words this car will be insane... providing i win the lottery or some other freak occurence.

My first car was a 1972 Plymouth Valiant... it was all rusted to shit, was yellow, and I had to replace the front fenders with ones off of a green one. The seatbelts didn't work in it, and I got pulled over alot. I repeated tried to blow the engine and hope my dad would lend me money to get a better car, but it just wouldn't blow! Even threw it in park while moving a few times, tranny never died.
When I was 19, the first Stealth just came out, so explain to me how I could've afforded a new one for like $40,000 or whatever they were. :p
22 in a month actually, studying at the University of Ottawa in my 3rd year of computer science.

Heh heh, thats the funniest thing ive read here :p
Sounds like a certain Blazer my dad had that just wouldent die. Every Cristmas he would get tuned at my Grandmothers and decide it was time to go visit the neighbours for some 'Christmas cheer' so he would fire up the old blazer and start driving across a western Quebec cow field in December with one eye open....Never did make it across....And Cristmas day, with pounding headaches, we would have to tow it back to the farm with the tractor.
That sumbitch just wouldent die. (The Blazer, not my dad ;) )
My first car was an 86 Jetta. There was no killing that thing. I could do 5500rpm clutch dumps and it would just keep on going. I remember when the defoggers broke down in a snow storm in buffalo, so we had to open the windows and crank the heat. We were so hot because the heater worked insanely well, plus we had on about 6 layers of clothes we were smuggling back across the border.
Next car was a nissan pulsar that went through a litre of oil with a tank of gas :o . But that could have been from all the times I forgot to put the oil cap back on after filling it :o
Then my dodge Avenger, which loved. Great car, just came time for a change.
I changed to my freaking stealth :finger:  :(
Unfortunately, that didn't work out. I will find something else though.
First car was my Stealth that I have right now. I have worked on cars for a long time before that I could even touch my own but still learning plenty because of it and I love it ;)

God do I feel old in this crowd! I turn 40 this year. The Stealth is my mid-life crisis car.
My first car was a Omni 024 (my Dodge roots). That was the best I could do for a sporty looking car at 18. Thing would use more oil then gas.
Then I was stuck driving a Tempo for 16 years until I got the Stealth. Ten years ago I also got a Toyota 4X4 for the winters. That helped to save my sanity.

04-30-03, 03:16 PM
Ya, I had the Omni for about 3 years and it must have had a different problem every month. I bought the Tempo new to have something cheap and reliable. I got the Toyota pickup 12 years ago and did some restoration work on it a couple of years ago. I doesn't look bad for an 86' and is a very reliable winter vehicle. Now it's time to go to work on the Stealth!
P.S. Through extensive therapy, I have very few memories of the Tempo...

Excellent, someone else who remembers what Brylcream was!!! lol!!! Welcome aboard. When it comes to toys, there is no such thing as an age barrier!!!!
Brylcream, geritol, beatle boots, $5.10 for a box of beer(24), muscle cars, speeds too fast for tires and suspension, speeding tickets under $100. , lose of liscence for 30 days for points, insurance under $300. They rolled up the highways after that. I feel sorry for the younger members of 3/S. I cant imagine what there insurance costs are.
Speed doesnt kill .... Its the sudden stop.

It cost me $1500\year for full collision coverage up to $2,000,000 liability and I have a $50 deductable. Don't feel sorry for me. Just got my stealth painted for $50 bucks. $9000 damage because of a sand storm. Oh and I will be putting the headlights on ebay in a month or so. Almost no damage. I think there is about 6 sand pits on the two. Any intrest?? Signal lights and headlights.

I guess I'm one one the "middle agers" here as well. (Christ I hate that term!) 34 and pushin' 35, but hey, my girlfriend's 19! :D
I'm an Air Traffic Controller at Montreal Area Control Center. If you've ever taken a plane that went over the province of Quebec at 28000ft or below, your life was in my hands at one time or another.
Took me more than a year to finally find and buy my pearl 1992 Stealth RT/TT, and over two to finally give it a name - Seven of Nine (yeah, I know, I'm a trekker, what can I say). But mainly (and here's the kicker) it IS the seventh car I've ever bought and of nine to date. :)
First car was a 1982 Datsun (yes DATSUN, not Nissan) 200SX. Used to race it with a buddy's 1983 Toyota Celica GTS. That thing f*cken flew! The speedo finished at 220, and my buddy's at 240, and we dashed it! Sold my 1991 Eagle Talon TSI (2WD) to another buddy when I bought Seven. The other 7 have just been various Civic beaters I've used in the winter.
And I still have my 1983 Yamaha RZ350, my first vehicle ever. Got it when I was 16, and MAN did I love that bike. Nowadays, I ride a 1985 Yamaha FZ750 straight outa The Road Warrior. Many spills and thrills. :p
