Race Gas?!
Holy Moley, what do you have planned Scott? How much boost do you plan on running, and where are you going to do it, so i can make sure im far away from any stoplight near you :p

Save it for the sunday meet at yorkdale

No, no... Nothing that exciting yet...

Just planning ahead...
Of course, the other thing is that I can be sure that I can max out my stock turbo's without any concern for knock, high EGT's, etc.

I dont know about toronto but I'm pretty sure that you can get race gas here in berrir at the barrie speedway. If only it was a drag strip and not a damn circle track.

Most raceways sell it, or it is avail. nearby....
All I'm sayin gis make sure you know what you are doing.....these engines are not race prepped.
And dont go anywhere near AV gas...Knew a guy who cracked his block without even trying with that stuff....and that was on a built motor.

I know some DSM guys that used to go to the track. They just filled up on Sunoco 94, then tossed in a bottle of octane booster.

I'm just planning ahead, is all... :D

Just want to be sure that turning up boost doesn't cause any knock.
Now, I realize that I won't have to worry about that with stock turbos. Heck, turning them up past 14.5 or 15 psi would be counterproductive, as they don't hold more than 9 or 10psi to redline in any case.

Someone like crazykid could make use of race gas with his hybrid 13G's, though...

As for the octane booster, that's been shown to actually not even make over 1 actual point of "Octane". You see, if you read the fine print on these boosters, you can see that they purport to add 7 to 10 points of octane. The fine print is that they add .7 to .10 of octane.
Therefore 91 octance plus octane booster gives you 91.7 to 92.

Not a big enough increase for the cost you spend. Better to get the real stuff...

I know, I know...

It is a common misconception. I was taken in myself.

Gotta remind myself to read the fine print -- I just never do!:)

That is why I never buy the octane booster. I would rather spend my money on the injector cleaner, which I feel provides better results.

I know Cayuga has pumps with race gas.

Injector cleaner is an even bigger scam!
It works by breaking the surface tension of the fuel system....guess what? It does that to the fuel filter as well, hence more crap goes into your engine....better to keep it in the tank where it belongs.
Save your money and get a motor vac done, or pull the injectors and have them cleaned and benched individually.

Just a side note:
If you have a boost controller and put in injector cleaner, TURN DOWN THE BOOST! Im speaking from experience. It sends the octane rating to crap and if you are still running @15psi, It kicks, cuts and backfires.... Stock boost levels should be fine though, but I wouldent run it too hard

octane booster is for 87 octane. If you put that in 92 or 94 you are LOWERING your octane lol.

Gas line anti-freeze? I can't say this with any authority, but I'm pretty sure most of the major brands put enough of that stuff in already. But, again, I havent researched this one. But its been years since I've seen a car with definitely frozen lines.....even this winter.
