Just wanted to start a thread to see what previous owner's of our vehicles have done to fix something. Not fix things in a good way, but really shitty, botched jobs that any 3 year old could improve on. I know mine will pale by comparison, but I'm curous to see what you've come across. Monopoly, that's your queue.;)

The worst things on mine were pretty simple.
1. The large hose clamp connecting air filter housing to the MAS was missing. Upon further inspection, I found it beneath the stock air filter.

2. The hose clamps on the y-pipes were fastened in such a way that they were rubbing and tearing into other hoses. I added insult to injury by wrapping the hoses with duct tape for the time being...

Now the things that a previous owner of my MGB did, well that could fill a history book.

Do you want me to start :D and do ghetto modifications count? ;)

Everything from cut springs on stock shocks, to never cleaning the filter.

Yup, that was an interesting 2 weeks. :o

Can you imagine what you'd have found after owning the car for 6 months? There's some scary stories out there, I'm sure. Ghetto mods would probably be at the top of the list.

Cut springs?! :eek: :mad:

My car's previous owner didn't know how to wash the car properly without scratching the hell out of it and leaving the paint very very dull... it took hella amounts of work to restore. :angry: (and I'm still not happy with it)

The damn cap on the on the engine coolant bottle wouldn't fastened tight :p.

THAT'S IT!!!

The previous owner of my car was MITSUBISHI!!! :D . I bought this baby with only 4000 miles on it, not 40k, 4K. An exec or somthing had it before me.

heh well lets see where to start...:rolleyes:

OK first of all some Mickey nouse tried to hold the rubber housing of the idle screw by tying a Zip-Tie around it!

Secondly! when i got the car i took both front wheels off cause they werent holding pressure and found 4 nails stuck in EACH tire!

Third! When i took off the 1/4 panels to install new 6x9's to my luck 1/2 the screws werent even there to hold on the panel in the first place!

Fourth! When i bought the car the TC was leaking and i asked "hey isnt there a recall on that leaking TC?" and he said "uhh its leaking??? i didnt notice that..."! Total BS!

Fifth! Some asscrack decided to splice the two 6x9 wires on each side and ran another wire from each speaker going under the back seats leading to nowhere! like WTF is up with that?!?!?

Sixth! when some Gearbox painted my car the friggin guy painted over that Fuse panel in the engine bay so now i have no idea which fuse goes where!

Theres more but i think you've all heard enough and my fingers are beat red from typin this!:rolleyes:

My issues:

all 4 springs were cut;

all for shocks were blown, the left side one were to the point of leaking;

leak from the transmission;

leak and possible damage to the rack an pinion steering;

front brakes were gone;

oil on the spark plug boots (meaning most likely a ring or seal issue);

windshield wiper washer didn't work;

clutch pressure plate had collapsed; and

needed new tires.

Total to fix the car probably getting close to $10,000. For just shocks, clutch and the rack an pinion the quote was $5500. So I think it was in my best interests to give that car back.
