Hey guys...

I dont know much about clutches but i think mines going and fast.
It seems very springy and soft and i've stalled my car 4 times this weekend....that never happens!
:(

So how else can i tell if I need a new clutch?

and do you guys know how much a new one will cost me? and where i can get it done?

thanks

To test it go at about 50, put it in forth or fifth gear and floor it. If your RPM's go up and you don't speed up , your clutch is letting go. Mine went from normal driving to where I couldn't go up a hill in a few weeks.

I VERY VERY VERY highly recomend EuroDrive out here in burlington to get your clutch and flywheel resurfaced. They custom make clutches for Le Mans cars, and know what they are doing. I was in there last week and he showed me a ferrari triple disk clutch they where making. They can hook u up with a nice clutch and pressure plate for about $300. I wish I would of known about them before I ordered my RPS II.

I'm guessing the dealer would charge about 7-8 hours for the clutch install. If you wanted I could do the clutch install over a weekend for a reasonable price if you worn't too concened with time.

AAAH!!! :(

Woke up this morning and the car barely started (like if the clutch was not in) and I couldnt put it in gear, no reverse, no first, second...etc. Nothing!! so i had to use mom's minivan...ooh joy!!
oh well at lease it didnt go on the 401.

so now it looks like i gotta get it towed somewhere...
i cant take it to the dealership nearby (QEW/427 Chrysler) cuz i cussed them out last time for the shitty service and i vowed to "never come back again"

hmmm....

any suggestions guys?
how much would a dealer cost for parts and labour?

thanks for the offer Crazykid but i think im gonna try to find something more local.

Woohoooo!!! my clutch is fine!

I called a local mechanic and he told me to check the clutch fluid and the clutch master cylinder.

There was no fluid!! :o
(i didnt even know clutches needed fluid) :(
oh well u learn something everyday

so i filled it up, pumped up the clutch a few times, started her up and it's like new!!!

im just wondering where all the fluid went? maybe a leak?
I gotta keep checking it and carry some DOT4 around with me in the meantime!

(btw: Dealer quoted me $1600 + tax for a new clutch and flywheel
freggin criminals! :P)

I had the same problem about a year ago....can't remember if it was the clutch slave or master cylinder or just a hose, but anyways, it blew out and left me stranded in TO. Thank God for my GF's CAA.....I'll miss it :)
Anyways, the fluid just leaks everywhere as you drive or once you stop....not hard to see the trail. But $70. in parts and an hour or 2 later and back to the races.

Nice find on the clutch shop, Shane....definitely keep it in mind when I freshen it up next year. Any leads on a reasonable engine rebuilder? I lose a fair amount of oil and have some pretty high mileage, so I'm keeping an eye out for that as well...

Crazykid are you sure about that $300?
Do they rebuild the clutch and pressure wheel or is it new one’s?
Can you check for me please? I’ll be dropping a new motor (5?? to 6?? hp) in my TT next summer and I’ll need a stronger clutch/pressure plate.

Thanks
Marc
