Hi guys,
Just wanted to share with you all. I finally did a few mods that were waiting until the good weather:
Intrax springs
3S Short Throw Shifter
Downpipe (eliminates front pre-cat)
Testpipe
I'm pretty happy! The car shifts great (the stock shifter is like rowing a boat in comparison), and sounds it too (at WOT, it sounds like a train!!!)
:D
Which downpipe is it? The ATR DP?
If I get another stealth, that is the one I am looking at. Either that or the Stillen, mainly because of the flex section.

Actually it is the Ty-speed DP.
It has two flex sections, one after the front precat eliminator, and one before the main cat (where I put the testpipe :D ).
It is not as nice as the stillen or ATR (not stainless), but 100% better than stock, mandrel bent, and 3in diameter.
Fit perfectly!

I would definatelly recommend this shifter.
It kicks ass!!! The quality is amazing.
I will attacha a picture of the stock vs the 3kgt, vs the 3S.
You will notice that the 3S is quality (like the stock). The 3kgt is smaller, has crappier welds, and a lot of people have problems.
The other thing is that the 3kgt does not have shift stops, and apparently that is important.

how much was the shifter???

Got it on the inital group buy.
About 200 or so US.
Well worth it, though...
I've heard great things about SuperMacs shifter as well and it's only $100 USD (as compared to $200 USD). This is what I'm going to pick up in a couple weeks.

hmmm, that supermac's one doesn't look quite right. The knob sticking out the bottom that fits into the linkage doesn't:
a) look long enough; and
b) looks too wide.
I would have to see one first before I got one.

How did the spring install go? We are getting ready to do this install on memystealthandi's car this weekend. Any helpful tips? :D

There's lots of people on 3si.org that have purchased SuperMacs and I havent seen one bad review of it. If your interested in getting short throw shifter, do a search on there for more answers.

Malice, you're right about that shifter...
I did a LOT of research before I got this one. I wanted one that was at least (if not better) than stock, and that's what I got. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Now, I'm not saying that that one isn't a great shifter, but the 3S is really good.
DSM Power, sorry, no helpful tips. I actually got it done by the guys at the shop I take the car to. I don't have the space, tools, or requisite skills to do them myself.
Plus, when it comes to something like my wheels, I'd rather not make a mistake

Hey Scott,
How much would you say the shifter lowered your knob? (That sounded bad  ) i checked out that SuperMac link and it said "lower your overall shifter handle height by nearly 4 inches" and i thought that is a little crazy. How much height did yours chop off?
I would like to get one that reduced the throw distance, but not really the height. I dont know if thats possible...
I chopped mine with no ill effects....I actually took it off and chopped it a little mor even!
As for the spring install, there are tons of great how-tos at 3si.org the only thing I will stress is you must use airtools...it can take forever with out them...with them, you will be done in 2 hrs.

The 3kGT short shifter lowered my knob by about an inch. It really doesn't look noticeable, but the short shift definitely can be felt. Dropping it four inches on a 93 or newer Stealth would put it under the console?!?! That doesn't sound right.

I know.
It also says it reduces the throw 80%?... So now the shifter is below the boot, and moves 1/4" to get into each gear... I would stay away from that. Any product description that has that much lack of thought, probably means the product has the same.

I went back and looked at the pictures, and with his big knob it looks like it sits a bit higher than mine with the stock knob. Now that didn't sound good either...
W3apon, have you got it in your car? It'd be interesting comparing the two. I agree the 3kGT doesn't look much like a polished Ferrari piece, but it seems to work.

Clubscout, I take my car to a shop on Mavis in Mississauga (below Burnhamthorpe)... My TT is that Emerald Green...
Fast Eddie, my knob ;) was lowered about 2 inches. I didn't think that there was 4 inches there to begin with!!! The biggest thing it did was reduce the throw (of course, with less leverage, it takes a bit more effort to shift, but nothing big).
I'm sure you could just reduce the throw and leave the height the same, but it is SO high to begin with. Especially for the 91-92's which had the worst shifters of all.
Apparently they changed the shifter for 93, and then, of course for the 94+ with the 6-speed.
I think we can compare them together at our next get-together...
Any thoughts to when that will be anyway? I know most of us couldn't make the last on on the 6th (I think)...

Sorry for taking this off topic....Whats the name of the place in case I need a second opinion on work?....Have you been going there long....Are the knowledgeable about our cars that would trust recommending them?
Thanks

Clubscout,
It is called Larry's Auto and Truck repair at 3344 Mavis (905-276-7250). Ask for Larry.
Let him know I recommended he talk to you and he'll be extra nice.
Here's the deal with Larry's.
They have been dealing with my car since the first owner bought it (1992). Their main mechanic, Wayne, is the only one that touches the Stealth. He has many years of experience, and has worked on a couple Stealths and a couple Talons.
He did my output shaft last year, the 60K, the springs, etc.
This is a small shop, but they are great guys and the biggest thing is that I trust him (so do a number of other people I trust). He would never shit you.
He tells it like it is, and won't let any shoddy work get done. He also won't cut corners, so it may not be the cheapest place in the world, but for our cars, who wants to cheap out.
WHat do you need done???

Hey Scott_93TT,
Thanks for getting back to me...I don't really need anything at the moment but I am always interested....Crazykid and I just replaced all the components for timing belt, waterpump etc....couple of weeks ago....I usually take my car to Eclipse Automobiles on Queensway at Islington...I've dealt with them on a few occasions and they were pretty nice to me....They did my exhaust system....They deal a lot with DSM cars and they usually have a 3000gt or Stealth kick around the showroom...
I like to have 2 mechanic shops just incase....I like to alternate mechanics if possible just to keep the other in check...Its not always necessary as I trust the guys at Eclipse...just saying...these days relationships are easily made as they are broken and its nice to know you have another to fall back on....
Thanks
Gianni

I've tried dealing with Eclipse before.
I'm sure others will chime in. They, IMHO, try to rip you off -- especially if you are unsuspecting.
And the prices they charge!!!
They tried to sell me a VR4 a year or two ago. Said everything was great, no accidents, etc.
I got one of the US members to do a search and the car had essentially been written of in the US!!!
I'd watch them if I were you.

Really????? I've heard that about a yellow stealth they had in there...Someone actually bought it.....I don't know if I would
buy a car from them per say but the shop only charges about $72/hours compared to Dodge at $92....Anybody else ever have engine or other stuff done on their cars there?
Gianni
PS. sorry about my signature getting posted over and over...we gotta get that fixed

I'm sure someone else will reply.
PS Larry's is 68/hour... But really, I'd rather go somewhere I know I can trust the guys IMO
