Yup it took that long! And it was a stupid small thing!

Since 5 years my cars had major fuel cut when it sat outside in the rain. It did not happen if the car was in my garage and I went out to drive in the rain, only if the car sat in the rain and I was driving it. If I was driving slow, it was ok, no fuel cut, the moment I began to put some boost : 'Bang' major fuel cut!

I change so many things in the car to find the problem, my first thought it was electrical, I was shooting water everywhere in the engine bay, nothing happened. 5 years is long... so I change almost everything under the hood, relevant or not... coils, wires, PTU, ISC, TPS, injectors, some connectors, ECU, even draw new wires from the ECU, MAS............

Any idea what it is ?

I just found out! I never opened the hood after the car sat in the rain, but I did and I saw there was water on the filter!! And I found out the water was coming from the hood blister that is not completely sealed!!! And the water was dripping right on the filter. So when I was driving slowly, the water was not getting suck very much, but as soon as I begin to boost, the water was getting suck on fast, what ever if it's a stock MAF or a hot wire MAF, they don't like water! :)

I thought I could share if it happens to one of you! Put a light and see from under if you see it!

the gap was the first thing me and my buddy with another gto noticed when we first got our cars lol. everytime i wash the car i always dry the filter off somehow because of this exact problem. i also have/had an open BOV pointing upwards so water would pool inside it as well.
well i dont have this problem anymore cause i got a 2nd gen hood now :D

did you ever consider getting a fiberglass/carbon 2nd gen style hood for your car? i know you like to keep the stock look so this might be something to look into since it will save you a good 45 or so lbs off the front end.

Yes I considered it, I think it's more like 35lbs, but not sure! Only thing is the fiberglass hood is pretty marshmallow and shake at high speed and a CF hood, well in case of accident can be dangerous as it can cut anything in the way. I would like an alu hood.
