Hey guys, it's getting to be a habbit for me not to show up at the meets!
I spent the entire two days on the weekend trying to extract a broken bolt from the exhaust manifold to get my EGR blockoff plates on!
What a bitch that was. First the bolt head broke off, then I had to drill a hole through the remaining bolt shaft (took about 4-5 drill bits), Then the extractor bolt broke off inside the hole, then after a couple hours trying to chisel the bolt loose I finally gave up and drilled a new hole and made a new adapter plate.
What a bitch that was, but it's finally all back together.
...How did you guys do ?

Well, our list of tasks was as follows:

1 Remove memystealthandi's front left shock/spring, and put it in the right way round.
2 Install my shorter shifter into his car.
3 Install my recently acquired boost gauge into my car.
4 Do the snake eyes thing to my car.
5 Paint the calipers on 3 vehicles.
6 Drink all the remaining beer in the fridge.

Success? Well, we accomplished items 1, 2, and 3. We didn't even touch the calipers, and the fridge is still full of beer. So I'd say it was a successful attempt on most counts.

Tom had trashed his brakes on Tuesday at the track, so he didn't even bring his car over, but was there to help out with ours.

And thanks guys!!!!!

I think it was a success....the springs are great, the shifter is great, and I'm told the boost gauge is great. Plus we found a "magical" car alarm!!!

refresh my memory here...why again is it that I wasn t invited?? Oh ya, its only the guys that can make the "gathering" that are included in your little "club" lol

Hey Davin if you want to drive down from red deer to help me paint my calipers, come on down!! :)
We should do another mini meet soon? Maybe just a day cruise.
Possibly to Banff or just local in Calgary?

You didn't receive your invitation?!?! I'll personally talk to the organizer and ensure that it doesn't happen again. ;) You'd have to make sure that you pick up W3apon on the way down; he's found ways of missing the last 2 mini get-togethers.

sorry Weap, i just painted mine last weekend:) And today i switched tranny fluid to Syncromesh...I m out of mini projects for the time being:) BTW....if you are doing your calipers, the easiest way to do it....leave the calipers on, get a grocery bag and wrap the rotor even under the caliper.....then use newspaper around the wheel well.....saves a lot of trime and they look like you took em off.....
Snortin....its must be Robs fault......its always his fault....I think he s blinded the the upcoming wedding..he s too busy thinking about party favors and how he s gonna get the garter off w/ no hands!haha

w3apon
05-27-03, 11:29 PM
I put in GM Syncromesh about 2 weeks ago and I've noticed it's considerably MORE notchy in all gears now.
WTF is up with that?? I'm gonna try adding in some Mitsu Friction Modifier this weekend, or maybe score some of that "magic lube" from Rob's wife haha lol ;)

memystealthandi
05-27-03, 11:39 PM
haha. So what if she's a lubrication development chemist.....
At least I get free oil additives, etc. $60/litre.

05-28-03, 12:12 AM
Yeah sorry I had to bolt out of there just as we were finishing up the boost gauge... at least I finished my beers! :D
I still need some caliper painting expertise. I should have the brakes fixed up this weekend. :p

BTW, you guys (Davin, W3apon) have to come and try the roadcourse at Race City - it's awesome!

Davin24
05-28-03, 01:02 AM
MORE notchy??? Are you serious?? Hmmm, so far so good for me.....I did notice that the Syncroshift is a bit thinner than the Redline i had in there.....maybe it feels notchyer (sp haha) because neutral is so loose...at least mine is.....
Ya i d love to do the road course...i ve never even been to Race City....don t even know where it is......I wish Ricky Bob would build a 1/4 mi. track and road course...

Snortin93

I think he s blinded the the upcoming wedding..he s too busy thinking about party favors and how he s gonna get the garter off w/ no hands!haha Watching Rob sink his teeth into some of the bolts on the front end gave me all the ideas that I need to know about that one....

So what if she's a lubrication development chemist.....At least I get free oil additives, etc. $60/litre. So that's what you and Tom were talking about. I thought we were still talking about camel toe and an evening at the French Maid......

I still need some caliper painting expertise. I should have the brakes fixed up this weekend. The experience around he is getting pretty deep. Davin's method is the way to do it. Just use lots of newspaper, scotch tape, and a plastic bag is a good idea I didn't even think of. After painting all my calipers with the VHT racing red, they really stood out. So much so that I had to do something, or at least make sure they were Brembo's. I took some of the sparkling silver, and just over-sprayed the red slightly. I thought it took some of the edge off of the red, but my wife just walks around the car mumbling "ricer, ricer....."

I think my boost gauge is accurate. I'm pulling 10 lbs thru the revs in 3rd gear, right to 6,000 rpm. I still have to play around and test at lower gears. But a manual boost controller will be on it's way soon.

i ve never even been to Race City....don t even know where it is...... After watching Tom toast his brakes completely, it's convinced me! Anyway it's just a few minutes south of Ricky Bob's on the Deerfoot. Take the Barlow Trail cutoff, go north a 1/4 mile, then east about 5 clicks, and you'll see it on the south side. I can't imagine anything being better than spending $100 for 4 hours of track time in the evening at a real race course. Hell you could do the track time, then drive home and still be there before dark. Now Tom, what about that Firefly that was leading your group?!?!?!

DSM Power
05-29-03, 08:03 AM
Ha ha, must have been that top-mounted intercooler on the Firefly. :p Or was it a Sprint? Hmm.

BTW, when is the Western Gathering again? I need to write it down on the calendar.

memystealthandi
05-29-03, 11:33 PM
hehe. We have to get the details on the western gathering moving. Plus Davin can't make it. We could push the date back?
We need ideas, brainstorm people. I've been too freaking busy....

Davin24
05-30-03, 02:00 AM
Push the date back?? Now THATS the best thing I ve heard yet!! Whats July 11 or 12 like? I will be in Calg. anyway that weekend...but i know its probably just wishful thinking.....But i mean hey, don t change the date for one guy unless it works for everyone....

Snortin93
05-30-03, 09:31 AM
If you don't bring back pictures of the Swedish bikini team, we're not changing anything for you!!!! LOL! :D

memystealthandi
05-31-03, 02:38 AM
so do we push the date back, or no?

Snortin93
05-31-03, 10:17 AM
I don't have a problem with a date change, but for out of town guys like AutoCAD, Quimby, Domesticwildric and ShadowMstr, we'd better make sure that it meshes with their plans. Besides June 14-15 is fast approaching!

Last known planned attendees:

1. memystealthandi - Calgary
2. Davin24 - Ded Reer
3. Snortin93 - Calgary
4. w3apon - Calgary
5. Quimby - Edmonton
6. DSM Power - Calgary
7. AutoCAD Guy - Maple Creek, Sk
8. Domesticwildric - Red Neck

Davin24
05-31-03, 01:50 PM

memystealthandi
05-31-03, 06:32 PM

As long as it's not that week of the August long weekend I'm in anytime!

BTW guys, the next Beyond track day on June 2nd is likely going to be cancelled because of a lack of interest. :(
You guys should seriously consider signing up for the next one. It does sound like they're cracking down now on 'n00bs' running at the track (need a course first?) but it will still be worth doing!

Davin24
06-01-03, 12:05 AM

If it's the same day, you won't be there. You'll be with the swedish bikini team.
