I found out I also need front and rear brake pads and front and rear rotors. the mitsu place in calgary wants 181$ for rear rotors, 139$ for front rotors, and 67$ for the front pads, and the same price to the back. that price sound like a good price for these items??? please let me know

By the time you get done with that car it'll be brand new!!!

Hopefully DSM Power will pipe up, but I remember him telling me that Mopac carried either PowerStop or PowerSlot rotors for his Talon so they may have something for the Stealth. Apparently one of those makes is very good, and the other is of unknown quality. Only rumours tho! They were cross-drilled, slotted rotors for about $90 each.

Since you need new pads all around, it may be time to consider some more performance oriented ones. I took the following information from John Monnin's website for the track day at the 2003 National Gathering. This should give you an idea of what is available other than the stock pads.

High Quality aftermarket Front brake pads. Stock pads will only last 3 laps if you drive hard.
All prices given below are approximate US$, actual price for your car may be much different

Porterfield R4 $135 race pads work great but are not recommended for street.

Porterfield R4-S $90 street pads work great for beginners and are streetable.

Stillen Metal Matrix$55 pads are barely better than stock and are cheaper, also streetable,
BUT JeremyG caught his on fire at the National Gathering. I personally do NOT recommend them.

Carbotech Panther plus $135 are great pads that also can be driven on street

Hawk HP Plus Race pads $69 Better than stock and streetable
One of the beginners had good results with them at the National Gathering.
The biggest advantage is they are in stock at the Tirerack so you can pick them up at the National gathering if you order ahead of time.

EBC redstuff $99 are heat stable to 1380°F, the biggest advantage
is that they are in stock at the Tirerack so you can pick them up at the National gathering

Just something for you to consider. When I replace my pads I'm thinking of going the Hawk HP Plus Race route. They are a little more expensive than what Hyatt can provide.....

Who me? What do I know... :D

Yes, Mopac carries Powerstop (cross-drilled) and Powerslot (slotted) rotors. They wanted approx. $80 each for the Powerstops for my DSM, so I imagine the Stealth ones would be in the same range. Don't ask me why I haven't bought these yet...?

As for pads, the most trusted DSM shop I know (Road Race Engineering) also recommends the Porterfield pads, with R4-S for street/sport use and R4-E for serious racing. Check out their page here for more details (pricing is comparitive to what Snortin' posted.)

On a personal note, I had a ride in a friend's car with a highly tuned suspension on the local track this past weekend and he was using Hawk pads. They had great stopping power, but they weren't being used on a 4000lb Stealth either. ;)

EDIT - Mopac's number here in Calgary is 277-0101.
