View Full Version : Red 2000 Z28 goes down
Last night on the way home I smoke a manual 2000 Z28 with borla exhaust!
As I got off the Queensway, there was a red Z28 a few cars in front of me and since he had Quebec plates. “Good we are going to the same place”
As we got to Lebreton Plats, I was right on is ass. He stops at a red light and I’m right behind him "to bad I can’t get beside him" light goes green and he goes!
Well I’m right on is ass and I have to let off the gas a bit or I’ll rear end him.
"I hope he’s going for the highway 50 and he did"
As he turned right to get on the HW, he went in the left lane waiting for me, he didn’t have to wait long since I was right on is ass.
I’m in first and he nails it! He got half a car on me in 1, in 2 I got up even with him and by the end of 3 I had a car on him after that I let off. Couldn’t go any faster after work traffic and he would have probably pass me by the end of the 4 gears.
But he doesn’t know that and all he knows is that he lost to a V6! LOL:D

I doubt he would have passed you by the end of 3rd or 4th if all he had was exhaust. I eat LS1's Camaro/trans-ams for fun(stock ones). Your car is *almost;) up to par with my car. I take C5 vettes on the highway no problem(stock ones).
I didn’t race to many car with it yet, I still find the TT kind of slow!

Those Damn french drivers!:D
Those Camaros/Fbirds make me nervous. havent really lined up with one yet, but played on the highway with an SS with the big snorkel-hood and wow, those suckers MOVE!
Should I be able to take an LS1? I mean, not talking with one hand on your balls, saying "Ya, we are the baddest around", but in a straight quarter run. I am thinking it would be a damn hard fight to keep one of those behind us.
I raced around with that guy when i was only running 11-12psi with cone filter and 3" downpipe, but i dont think i would have beat him....
(he may have been modded. dont know the sound of those cars well enough to tell)
Oh, good kill marc, hehe, forgot to say that.

If you're BPUed, and the LS1 camaro/trans is stock, then i woudln't worry one BIT. BPUed you'll beat an LS1 C5 if it's stock. But those are bad ass cars on the highway. Very fast. I remember, stock for stock against an LT1 WS6, i pulled away from it very slowly. STock for stock against an LS1 WS6, i'd lose.
But Regular LS1 tansam, we'd beat, WS6, a little tougher.
I run 12.7 now, and i estimate my time when i'm full BPUed(when i get exhaust) to be 12.5 on regular gas, and hopefully 12.3-12.2 on race gas.

12.7!!??
And you don't even have an exhaust? What do you have done?
Right now, in the performance category, I have:
MBC @ 14psi
HKS SS BOV
K&N cone filter
custom fabbed pre-cat eliminators into a 3" Downpipe.
Plugs gapped way down and the fuel pump hotwire.
Floor hockey ball holding my Y-pipe on
and i am not sure i am a 12 second car yet. Havent tracked it, or found anyone with a G-Tech to test out, but what do you figure that setup should be running? Somewhere in your ballpark?

Yeah, you're pretty much Full BPUed. You have more performanec mods than i do, hehe. I think you should be running 12-7 to 12.5.
The mods in my car that actualy give performance are:
MBC
Boost Controler
Open Element Intake
TurboXS BOV(don't really help, only quicker boost recovery and richens between shifts, open loop. No hp gains though)
Other mods:
Intrax Springs | DN Polished Y-pipe | Bomex Front lip | Stillen X-Drilled rotors | RPS II Clutch | Fidanza Lighweight Flywheel |

12.5-12.7?
I was looking through an old road and track this morning and they were testing the 'new' 1994 Lamboghini Diablo VT. All wheel drive and 496hp.
its quarter mile time was 13.2 seconds.
Brand new Corvette C5 - 13.4-13.5 seconds.
Im going to beat a Diablo by 5 carlengths? That cant be right, can it?

well look at it this way. I'm not full BPUed. I have boost controler, intake and blow off valve and i'm running 12.7. a full BPUed car should run 12.5. The lamborghini VT if i remember correctly runs mid to low 12's actually. and a Stock C5 runs low 13's to high 12's, depending on driver.
But anyway, who cares what they run. Full BPUed you WILL run 12.7 at least. If you don't, put some race gas in there, turn up the boost three pounds, and you'll be fine:D .
And as a matter of fact, Marc(fou) ran 13.0 on stock exhaust, a 240k motor, and a spun bearing, hehehe. He had boost controler and intake, and a 6 speed trannh, and i think that's all he had.
I did spin a bearing, I busted the bearing on rod # 1.
