pulled the front three plugs yesterday, and well I have to say that the little fuckerz are really black, I definatly have a fuel problem. My tail pipes are really black too, and I have been told by a bud that when I step on it barrels of black come out the tail pipe.....

all that is done to My car is FIPK, and gutted pre cats and a test pipe, I am runnin stock boost I plan to put on a MBC soon when I get a chance to do it

I have new plugs to go in, NGK BCPR7ES, and ACCEL 8mm wires anda new fuel filter aswell...

any suggestions on what I can look for..... would bad O2 sensors be a reason for this? The O2's in the DP are pretty black too.

Thanks
Mike

One way to lean it out is to get that boost controller on. Instead of taking away gas, simply add more air! :)

our cars do tend to run rich...
if you have never changed o2 sensor's you prob should. they do deteriorate with mileage. I think it should be added to the 60k miles tuneup list ,even though procedurally it is unrelated to the rest of the major tune up.
other things that could cause it to run extra rich are bad fuel filter, and dirty injectors.

so you think all 4 O2 sensors need replacement?

I got a bottle of that lucas injector stuff in the gas tank now.

hopefully I'll get a chance to get the plugs & wires on tomorrow night, I'll put the fuel filter on the same time!!

I guess I'll have to see what happens!!

if you do plan on putting the boost controller on soon, it would be easiest for you to gap the plugs down now, instead of having to pull them later when you start getting spark blow out. just a tip.

Someone else will be able to recommend a gapping for the boost pressure you plan to run. i would just be guessing.

yeah what do you gap the plugs to when adding a BC?

when i installed my BOV i noticed my car runs a little richer than it did before. hopefully the BC will make it run a little leaner.

up to 17lbs around .36
over 17lbs around .34
stock gap is .40

That is what I have read on 3Si...

I think I am going to gap my NGK BCPR7ES copper plugs to .36

dam another failed attempt to change plugs..... I am at work now attempting to do the change here in the garage and the car has been sitting for an hour... still too hot to work with and it is getting too late to start... Fuck::angry:

Next time, get the hood open as soon as you can.

If they're the original ones, and u have more than 100k kms on the car, I'd change them.
I'm also not a big believer in the "pour in the tank-instant fix" type cleaners. They work by breaking the surface tension in the system, so most of the work they do would occur in the tank, pump, filter and lines....loosening it up and sending it you know where...the injectors....if a big enough hunk of crud gets in therem you've done more harm than good.
Get them either bench cleaned or a motor vac done.

And you know the best time to pull the injectors is when you have the intake manifold off, doing your plugs.

Do you have any way to read just HOW rich you are? a data logger or air fuel guage? If you look aroound and can find which wires going into the computer are from the o2 sensors (or even run a new wire spliced directly from the o2) and hook it up to a voltmeter, you can see how rich you are, or if they are even working. You will be looking for numbers around 0.9V to 1.0V at wide open throttle.

I think I was rich because it couldn't burn the fuel it was given.... new lugs and it seems to be a helluva lot better:D I guess I got to wait and see what kind of fuel mileage I get!!

The plugs I took out had a .48 gap.... all of em, wild shit!

I think the change was overdue:p
