Vacuum reduction - Emission test

Anyone in Ontario done the Vacuum reduction? Can you still pass an e-test? Do I need the EGR block off plates or can I leave the EGR there unplugged?

I passed e-test a few weeks ago with full vac reduction. I have egr blockoffs installed, charcoal canister is deleted also. Test was fairly close but car had been sitting for 2 years prior. From what I recall they tested exhaust at idle and around 2500rpm, also checked gas cap pressure.

You should be fine, I never had any issues passing and it's been 3 years.

for people in near future who ask questions like this... yes.

mine passed this year (may 2012) with 3 convertors vac. reduct. aftermarket y pipe and no filter... not to mention the 7000rpm shifts to get the cats hot enough

and for bc residence, all you need is your main cat

passed mine with no egr, no precats, vac red, tuned on maft system. just make sure to recirc your bov or tune it out like i did

so took the car in for an e-test today and it failed read 253 for HC at idle, limit is 200. Passed no problem at 2500 rpm. The one thing I am wondering is the way we did the test. When you let off the throttle after the 2500 rpm test it immediately starts taking the idle readings as soon as its in the rpm range for idle. My car will blip rich when you let off the throttle. At idle my wideband is reading 15.6 and according to the test results it's 14.48. I am wondering if the blip rich is what is throwing off the test.

So went back today and tried the e-test again. Eased out of the throttle nice and easy this time between tests and it passed! Woohoo!

sounds like open loop bov with draw thru mas was probably the culprit as rez mentioned
